Hello, everyone.

The Nightmare

“Night, Mom. Night, Dad,” I said rather loudly at about 1:30 am as I was walking towards my bedroom. Climbing my bed I wished that hopefully I won’t see any nightmares tonight. Not that I don’t enjoy the company of nightmares. As a matter of fact, I did and do enjoy them... after, of course, they have passed away. Tonight, however, I desired a more pleasant and pleasurable sleep for the benefit of myself and others, meaning that if I didn’t, tomorrow, everything, ranging from going to the bathroom to doing more problematical tasks, would go wrong.

The other reason, the more important one, is that I didn’t have any sort of experience with dreams that can be called good. Even my normal, happy dreams would in some time in the eight hours of my sleep turn either bad, the type that scares me to the extent of death, or strange, the type that has no meaning in any logical or illogical way. An exceptionally good example of the latter type is when I had an orchestra concert… that afterwards turned into an ocean of spaghetti and meatballs. Another dream, which can be placed in both categories and which I can play it back like a DVD in my brain, is when I was chased by devilish, monstrous bear-dogs around the Roman Coliseum, where I had powers like those in Star Wars. Now I can go writing a long book about all these nightmares, for each of them went on a dreadful eight hours, but I can’t. For this is the story of what I believe to be my most frightening nightmare yet.

The first thing that I thought to myself as the nightmare began was, “oh, no! Here we go again.” I was in my dad’s car, with my dad sitting on the drivers sit. We were on a bridge, with the lake below us, going on a road that seemed miles and miles away until it reached the dark-blue sky, with shreds of clouds. The temperature was freezing, thought I did not paid much attention to it. Behind the bridge, was a city with tall buildings, some were skyscrapers. Further down the road, however, on both sides were broad pastures. On the left side of the road, near the edge of the water, we were going on was a humongous, worn out factory with broken windows that seemed to have withered over the many years it was left alone.

I noticed only two entrances to the factory, as we were passing it. One was the main entrance, a huge door almost the same height as the factory, and the other door was the same size of an ordinary door but with metal bars covering it horizontally and vertically. In the door with the metal bars, I suddenly saw two pairs of red eyes gleaming in the darks which lay beyond the door. The car stopped and my door opened. Unwillingly I got up and went towards the door. If by some sense of stupidity or inquisitiveness, I do not know.

I observed the door and its surroundings when I arrived. Many pair of red eyes were flashing. No sounds could be heard at all. Not from the lake, nor from the barred door, nor from the wind. I still remember the next moment as if it happened last night. The barred door flung open and two to three huge, black rottweilers of huge size and teeth of unimaginable sharpness attacked me. My instincts kicked in and I protected my face as one bit my hand, but, however, I did not feel any pain.

I turned back and ran towards the car, but, alas, the car had disappeared! All odds were against me! I remember myself stunned and thinking, “What in the world?! Is ever something good done to me??!” and sprinting with my greatest speed towards the horizon, running for my life from the rottweilers.

One thing troubled me most in the nightmare. I wanted to stop and let them tear me to shreds and feast on my bones, so I could wake up from this horrible nightmare. They wouldn’t kill me, however, because I wouldn’t stop running as if some other force other than my own will was in play. I had to keep on running and running… when I suddenly woke from my nightmare.

After that horrifying event, the question I asked myself was, “what could this nightmare mean?” It didn’t seem to fit in the strange category. Besides, I also saw it twice with the same settings but different techniques that I used to escape. Well, the nightmare has passed anyway. No good thinking about it to provoke a sequel to the original. And for now, I think I’ll go and have a sleep, hopefully, without any nightmare…

Please review. Thank you! :D

You wake up in the morning and it feels impossible? Good. You do it anyway.
