In a recent Toronto Blue Jay's game, the one which lasted 18 innings, two young men only got to see the first three. The reason? They wore Ed the Sock shirts. Ed the Sock is a local celebrity. He's vulgar and often rude, but if you really listen to what he's saying, you'd be amazed by how intelligent the things he says really are. What did the shirt say, "I'd rather be called smartass than a dumbass." The guys were told by an usher that they would either have to turn their shirts inside out or leave. They chose to leave. However, in the end, they weregiven an apology, and the president of Rogers, owner of the team, said HE would wear the same shirt.

Personally, I think anyone would rather be called a smartass than a dumbass. yeah, I'm being an ass, but at least I'm smart.

Hmm
They would have been allowed to see the game here, the shirt is protected by the constitution. :D
but if they had been kicked out, there would never have been any apology.

Actually, our freedom of speech laws are essentially the same. As long as it's not overtly racist or sexist you can wear pretty much any shirt you want.

I am still a firm believer that freedom of speech means ALL SPEECH.

Like I said, our laws are essentially the same, but they aren't identical. According to the Charter, there are reasonable limits. The Charter also states that all people have the right not to be descriminated against regardless or race, religion, econominc status, or gender. If one wears a shirt that does descriminate against ANY group, you shouldn't wear it. However, a shirt that says you'd rather be called a smartass than a dumbass doesn't descriminate against anyone. It just states the wearer's opinion regarding two slightly vulgar words that don't descriminate against any specific group.

Is a dumbass a race, religion, economic status or gender? By saying that, you're just gett8ing a bit ridiculous.

Normally, I would agree with you, but I don't want to screw up my record.
