There is a certain question I always ask myself. Why do people buy things that they don't need? A lot of times when someone goes grocery shopping they will spot something for example, a really pretty piece of jewelry or a purse. Most girls I see have ten different purses. Once I asked my best friend why girls like to buy so many purses. My friend told me that they buy different purses so they can match their outfits. To me that is very ridiculous. In my opinion, I don't really care about matching purses. I love my purse very much and it's black so it matches with everything. It may not look good with every outfit I have but, who cares? I do try to match my shirt, pants, shoes and other accessories though.
Another thing is, why do girls just have to buy designer things? Can't they just go to a store and pick out a good looking shirt? Designer things are much more expensive, so what's the use of wasting money on things that you can get at a non designer store? It might be made of faux leather but again, who cares?
Greediness is another thing. For example, two girls see this very pretty pair of shoes at a designer store and they both want it very much. The two girls will fight over it. I think fighting over a pair of shoes is a very stupid thing to fight over. People in other places could be fighting over something much more serious than a pair of shoes.
I have nothing against people that love shopping, shopping at designer stores, or girls who just have to buy ten million purses just to match their outfit. I'm just expressing my opinion.

Hi Fearless! First off, I'd like to say that this really all belongs in a blog. :) This forum is for sharing your works, not your rants. (sorry if I sound harsh, I'm trying to say this nicely)

But anyway, I'd like to "critique" this, even though people don't generally "critique" blogs. Ok then.
To start, your first paragraph is very repetitive. You keep on reusing the word "purse". It can be substituted with "it". Otherwise it can get somewhat annoying to read. Not that I think you're annoying. :)

In my opinion, I don't really care about matching purses.

This sentence doesn't really make sense. I mean, your message gets across, but it's not very well constructed. If you're going to say "in my opinion", you don't need to follow it with an "I" statement. When you give an opinion, it's to state your point of view on something so it doesn't really relate back to you, other than the fact that it is your thought on the matter. A better way to say this sentence is "In my opinion, matching purses is something that doesn't really matter." or just "Personally, I don't really care about matching purses."

I'd also like to talk about your other paragraphs, not to critique them, but to debate them. I think that many people like designer things because it makes them feel important, and not in a bad way either. Having a label can be fun and it usually is better quality. I don't really view it as "wasting money" because these things can make people happy. It's sort of like the saying "It's the thought that counts.". Another thing, girls don't actually fight over shoes. Or anything else that they like. That's only in movies. But yes, if people did fight over things like that, I'd think it was stupid too. :)

I also have another thing that I'd like to say. I think you're stereotyping the girls as the shopaholics. Your subject line is "Rant on Shopaholics" but you're focusing on the females. Even if you aren't trying to, it comes out like that, especially when you only use girls in your examples.

A tip: if you were going to make this not seem like a blog post, try turning it into an essay-like thing. It's really easy if you just say, instead of "I don't get why...", state your view on the matter like "I don't think that people need designer things when there are less expensive things out there." and then state your reasons in thinking so. But reallly, I do think that this should go in your blog. :)

Um, I'm sorry if I sound mean or unfriendly. I'm really not trying to be. I've added lots of smiley faces :)

I hope to read your blog sometime soon! Keep writing :)

I find it to be hysterical. Havent these girls seen Fight Club? In the words of the almighty Tyler Durden "you are not your f*cking khakis!" That pretty much means you are not your purse, your shoes, your outfits, etc. etc. I like dressing nice because it boosts my confidence, but I do that on e-bay where i can buy 14 abercrombie tee shirts for $12 and 7 pairs of hot topic pants for $20. My family is very short on money because we have been renting a house for a year and during that time our old house has been on the market and my mom has MS so we have to pay for many different prescriptions and doctor appointments. E-bay sells new stuff for cheap!

I tell the neophyte: Write a million words–the absolute best you can write, then throw it all away and bravely turn your back on what you have written. At that point, you’re ready to begin.
