I now understood why some of the people wanted me to stay.
This was so incredibly boring, even for me.
All I had to do was sit on a bunk bed that made me feel that I was in jail. But there were better things to think about. I had a bed to sleep on, heat, and there was entertainment. I don't have any younger brothers and sisters, and there aren't many little kids where I live. So at least I get to goof off for a while.
Just as I got up, the truck slammed on its brakes, and I tumbled to the ground ungracefully.
The TV buzzed to life, Andi's face in the middle of the screen. "All children stay in your CSV. We are having difficulties with our GPS system. If any of you go outside, I will know, and you will be sent back to Headquarters. So stay where you are."
The TV turned to black again for a few seconds, then turned on again. Three little boxes occupied the left side of the screen. Each box had the children of different CSV in our Caravaan. They all started talking at once:
"Dare you to go outside!"
"What's going on?"
"I just want to keep going."
"She always says that. Do you think she has a script?"
"Guys be quiet for a moment." I spoke this time, louder than the kids. They listened to me since I was the oldest, and because I was fun. But while they were talking, I had moved to the window that separated the driver's cabin from our room. If you positioned yourself right you could see outside.
Andi and the leaders were outside. She was yelling at all of them. After a second they started scrambling everywhere. When Emily tried to calm her down, Andi just put a force field around herself.
Usually she was much nicer to Emily.
Something had to be terribly wrong.

My ears still rang as I confronted Petey. He had been with Andi for years. He'd know what was going on. I had to fly over to him because Andi ordered all hybrids to shift.
"Petey! What's going on?" I whispered so Andi couldn't over hear.
"I can't really tell you, Gavina, but have you any fighting experience?"
I stared at him shocked, "Why?"
"The Shadow Clan is headed straight towards us. They've been trying to get Andi to join them for years. Once they even burned her house to the ground - with her two brothers and mother still inside. They didn't make it."
He turned away from me, "Andi hasn't really been the same since. The Shadow Clan is horribly cruel and dangerous, Gavina. And strong fighters. Just be prepared for a fight either way. I have to go tell Andi their new coordinates. They're ten minutes away now. Coming from the northeast. Be careful, Gavina."
I was so scared I felt like I was going to hurl.
What are we going to do with the children?

Carey heard Morana start up the Caravaan engines. Carey quickly plopped into a swivel chair in front of the control desk.
"I need coordinates, Carey!" called Morana from the front of the vehicle. Carey began punching keys into the GPS system.
"They're coming!" he called back, pressing the button to transfer coordinates to Morana's screen at the front.
"Got them!"
Carey turned back to the computer screens. He typed in a pass code and pulled up a satellite image of the other Caravaan. He saw dots moving around the long line of CSVs.
"They've spotted us," he breathed, eyes glued to the computer screen. He zoomed in, concentrating on the moving dots.
Carey didn't recognize most of the people around the Caravaan. His eyes were drawn to one in particular.
"Horosc," Carey said. "I think you might want to see this..."
Out of the corner of his eye, Carey saw Horosc pull his laptop.
"Send it."
Carey pressed a button on the side of the monitor. There was a pause as Horosc opened the file. Then Horosc began chuckling softly. Carey smiled.
"Want me to send them a message?" asked Carey, his eyes not leaving the lithe figure he knew so well.
"Naturally."
Carey sat back and cracked his knuckles. "What do you want me to say?"
"Welcome them into our little game... One that our precious Andi should be quite familiar with..."
Carey smirked. He leaned forward and began typing furiously. Life was about to get a lot more interesting. This was the break they had been waiting for.
