A thouhgt occured and persisted
"In Germany, what is World War Two?"
is it right or wrong,
is it glory or is it shame,
is it taught or hid?

I asked a source
the internet
and it replyed in a dispute,
a dispute between "Poland" and "Germany"
they say it is
they say its shame
they say its taught
but is it believed?

The way they argued...
you'd think they were fighting the war
they cursed
they put down
they fueded
and berated
the other country

So now i wonder...
who will tell the truth
who will assert reality
who will inform us
what is actuallity

well. i really can't say much about this. your complete lack of subtlety and metaphor caught me off-guard. but i won't be too terribly mean here. all i can say is, utilize your poetic ability! this has NO poetic qualities. it's basically an account of what you did. you are only saying this: "gee whiz, one day i was thinking about WWII and it occurred to me that the internet might have some useful information on the subject. but to my surprise, i found an article from Germany's perspective, which was heavily biased towards the German side. this appalled me, and now i wonder who will spread truth." other than the dry, intensely boring subject matter, you did not have any of the elements of poetry. there's no cleverness, no clear rhyme scheme (although i must say, i don't believe poetry needs to rhyme anymore. structure in poetry is a quaint thing, that belongs to the past.), and more importantly, your vocabulary was savagely misused! please, go out, read some Blake, some Baudelaire, some Ginsberg, really ANYONE, and learn from what they've done. sorry, but i've got to say, this one wasn't very good to me. BUT, i think that if you went out and read some poetry, and learned what the greats have done, you'll get better. read more, and it will naturally come to you.

Just one thing...

The way they argued...
you'd think they were fighting the war
I think this should say 'you'd think they were still fighting'

So now i wonder...
who will tell the truth
who will assert reality
who will inform us
what is actuallity
I loved this last word (mostly because I haven't heard it before)

I thought this was a good poem, and its a question I've also asked myself many times before.
Don't listen to Zalarus about it not having poetic quality (he'd probably put Spike Milligan down given half a chance). A poem is a poem it doesn't need to be great it just needs to be true to what you think and feel.

excuse me? what is this even supposed to mean? "it doesn't need to be great"? of course it does! that's why we're all here. to make our poetry better. the point of a poem isn't just to spew words onto a page. it's to craft your words and intent into something beautiful and artful. a poem that isn't evocative or meaningful to the reader is utterly useless. what i see too often on this website is people creating a masturbatory, meaningless poem and then have hoards of people applaud it. meanwhile, the poetry that actually IS wonderful and artful is ignored. this disgusts me, and what i am trying to do is change that. please give some USEFUL criticism before you start bothering me.

To have more, you have to become more. Don't wish it was easier - wish you were better. For things to change, you have to change, and for things to get better, you have to get better.
