Drilling for plastic…..

I looked at the sky today.
I mean extensively looked at the sky, not the inadvertent look we all do.
I mean eyes fixed, head cocked back, in total silence and gazed at the unsettling vastness of the sky.
I thought about how everyone who had ever existed looked at this exact same sky.
I thought about how by some divine law I could never comprehend, this massive, blue, mystery blanket kept us all alive.
I thought about thanking the sky on behalf of all earth, for all its done for us.
I thought about it saying “You are welcome, Adam.”
I thought about what else the sky would say, deep, profound, philosophic shit I bet.
Like, “This is all bigger than you.” or “You aren’t alone.”
I thought about how glad I was that the sky didn’t talk, I mean the sky has to see a lot of stuff, and for a scoundrel like me, an all seeing, omnipotent, blabber mouth is the last thing I need.
Besides if the sky could talk that would mean it would have to have a mouth, and with a mouth comes all types of issues; bad breath, sneezing, snoring, besides what if the sky accidentally eats a plane?
American Airlines would sue.
After my neck developed a sharp pain and soreness I directed my attention to the busy bustling city street. Men with briefcases, students, the poor and down touted. Each with 1000 stories all coexisting under the sky.
I stared at a well endowed woman, she was wearing a low cut shirt that I’m pretty sure was to small.
She had amazing tits.
The sky is a lot like a nice set of breasts.
And If the sky is a giant boob, then the sun is a nipple.
They both invoke this bizarre since of hope, they both having this healing power that is indescribable.
The sun feeding the earth with invisible rays. and nipples feeding babies and sexual deviants with organic calcium.
You can go blind gazing into the sun to long.
You can go to jail if you stare at boobs to long, and without permission.
I thought about how when I was a kid I’d lay on my moms chest .
I thought about how it was the closest to nirvana I had ever been, without smoking weed.
I thought about my head being like the earth, and my mother’s chest being the sky.
I thought about the sun/nipple metaphor I had made earlier which led me to think about my mothers nipple, which grossed me right the fuck out.
I noticed that the women with the big tits noticed me mindlessly staring at her chest.
She probably thought I was a pervert, some type of peeping tom.
She wasn’t far off basis, I am some what of a pervert. But what she didn’t know is that her magnificent tits helped me see things a little bit clearer, I had a boob inspired epiphany.
I wanted to thank her, but it would only have freaked her out.
Especially since I had a boner….

Hey Adam. You have an interesting piece of work here. I'm not sure it's actually a poem, since you don't use poetic devices like rhyme, line breaks, etc. Of course, poetry doesn't need all those devices, but in this case your piece is more like an essay, in two parts (on sky, and on breasts), so I'm going to critique it in two parts.
the sky
I loved the way you described the sky, but you didn't use line breaks at all! Plus, you repeated yourself a lot. Example: I mean extensively.../I mean eyes fixed..., I thought about.../I thought about..., etc. You could, maybe, get away with saying it twice, but after that we know you are thinking and it gets tiresome. So, keeping that in mind, I think the first part could be a really beautiful poem if you were to reword and reformat it a bit.
So then you went into your part about the sky having a mouth, which is original, but that's when you start to get distracted from your point, with 'American Airlines would sue'. And then after the 'After my neck...' part you get really distracted and onto another subject, which is:
breasts
You could make this into a poem if you really tried. But I think it would work best as an essay. And it could be a great, funny essay if it was a bit longer.

The important thing is to decide what you want this to be and make it so. You have a lot of good raw material here, but it needs to polished into an actual piece (or two). There are a few inevitable mistakes as well, just make sure to read your finished product over a couple times to catch them. PM me if you need any more help!

Hello Adam!

First off I'd like to let you know that I raised the rating of this poem to R since it includes the F word. The YWS doesn't follow your general movie ratings, so you may want to check out the Content Rating Guidelines.

So! Your poem. Like Kiss, I'm not entirely sure this is a poem, but art is art, right? I think what really made this poem distasteful for me (besides the whole ramble on breasts? You might want to make this more appealing to female readers.) was the fact that your narrator simply rambled as if he were talking in his own head, and it didn't go anywhere. It didn't have a point, or a place it was going, or a purpose. It only rambled. In my mind, no matter what style you're writing your poem in, it should some how appeal and relate with the reader. You should make me feel, or think, or believe something. Really you only made me feel a little confused and gross.

Next time you write a poem you might want to consider what kind of purpose or goal you have with writing the poem. It will be a lot more reader popular if you do appeal to them, and in more ways than just vulgarity.

Best of luck!
“It's necessary to have wished for death in order to know how good it is to live.”

Thank you both for your feedback, i really needed it.

Suzanne, in terms of being rather gross and a tad sophomoric I pride myself in being unapologetically honest.
and "distasteful", rather subjective phrase but still a valid and respected opinion.

The goal was to make the reader smirk and identify with the more human, simple thoughts rather then using stressed metaphor to create a cliche piece about how rivers make my soul feel or something equally played out. haha looks like I missed that mark huh?
Hahahaha.

Is this bass REALLY strong enough?

I went to confront noisy neighbours, only to find the windows dark, stuck with two notes. The ghost, too, had "gone fishing". Something still whistled.
