The feeling I constantly experience,
I feel it daily, painfully, with the tears in my eyes,
They fall out, drip down my cheeks in streams,
My eyes sting with all of my sighs,
The images in my mind,
They haunt me in both dreams and nightmares,
Your face makes my stomach churn
My body hurts with pain of all kind
Unrequited
Unprepared
For feeling this way, about you
Despite all this, this throb in my heart.
All I want,
All I need,
Is to pretend, that I'm thinking only of you.
Hoping our shared stares are because of our mutual crush.
But sometimes I feel like I know,
It's only coincidence now that we share a stare.

Almost all the time,
I'm the one trying to make the conversation start
But you act so eager to make it end.
I'm often told you're just quiet.

I still have years to impress you,
But it's hard to impress those who are immune,
To flattery, smiles and laughter.
Perhaps being young creates your excuse,
If that's the case, we're exact opposites.
For my youth only spurs me on.
However, I often worry if all it does is annoy you;
My incessant talking, your continuous silence.
Your smiles only confuse me.
You hardly give me a clue.

You're all I ever think about, I try to talk to you everyday.
No matter how many syllables I speak, all you ever say
Is a word, maybe two, occasionally a sentence.
It's nothing but discouraging,
But it's always addicting.
My only goal is to get to you,
Whenever I speak of you, I feel like a fool.
Almost as if I was the only one not in on a secret,
I feel ridiculous because everyone else feels the same about you,
And they all seem to know that it's not going to happen,
But I'm still living in a lie.

I'm always so confused,
Every time around you, I'm convinced that we feel the same way
But then I get this feeling you're already forgotten,
Maybe I'm just emotional, all the time, everyday.
Your signals are mixed
Not to mention difficult to read..
Sometimes I catch you looking at me, or is it just in my general direction?
Let's assume it's the first.
I've been dressing up so nicely for the past few weeks.
I even bought some dresses. I only wondered if you noticed.

When I walk down the hall and see you,
I always want to step in your way and make you see me.
Though you hardly talk to other girls,
I always feel jealous just thinking about it.
Though even I don't know the combination to my heart,
I am positive you've written it down and it's resting in your pocket.

All my eyelashes are dedicated to you,
Every single one of them must be faulty
For my wishes never come true.
Your occasional stares look empty,
Yet the way you blush as you glance sideways
Implies all otherwise.
I really can't tell what you want,
But I pray it's the same as what I want.

I go away and feel confidant we're on the same page
Then I return home and suddenly I'm not so sure
I can't sleep thinking about you,
Your words are just a riddle I can't unwind.

Confusion is your middle name.
Confused is my first.
Though you write me long letters.
I can't see any of the words.

Good Ma'am, I must say that you remind me of a girl that I am attached to. Might you be her in disguise? Actually in the relation I have to this poem I forgot everything I was going to say. But I will saaaaay this, this commonplace dilemma here with a not so common solution, with a not so bold outcome, you describe it to me like you already know the end? Like you gave up. Which is not a bad thing, I'm just wondering if that's the effect you were going for.

Also, and this may be entirely my fault, but I perceived it as you talking to me. Because of that the read felt like some of the words were my own to you and not entirely all you were thinking. Perhaps you were thinking of him even as you wrote this, and responding to things? It's almost like he wrote it with you.

It's almost eerie to me because I have had some of these things said to me by this girl, in the exact same words. It makes me curious, I honestly have never seen a poem about it so this seems completely original to me. It's almost like it should be taboo to say these things to someone else. The feelings here are hard to understand when someone has not gone through this type of thing and I know exactly EXACTLY to the tee what you are saying, what you mean, how much you felt, even how you feel after it is resolved. I feel like I know your future and your past. Actually reading this I feel like we already know each other.

This was impressive. I do not think anything I ever tried to write would turn out so...real. Thank you for sharing this with us, I understand it's rather complicated. Are you hoping he sees it too? If he's anything like me he feels the same way about you, and the second you say it to him it'll click in his head. I'll warn you, guys don't understand the concept of reading signs, even if we think we do. I appreciate you putting you works here and hope to see more from you soon!

Edit-- Don't listen to anyone who calls this angsty, we're all still kids here and they are just being poop heads D:

Thanks for the comment! I'm not really sure if I'm SUPPOSED to comment back, but I guess I will anyways (??).

So here is the story behind the poem. I've been writing poetry off and on again for a long time. ONLY because of school assignments. I've never really written any poetry outside of a school project. The other day my English class explored the world of Haiku and such. I've attempted to read poetry in the past; quite enjoyed some of it. My personality is a lot of dreams and romantic, hypothetical, situations. Recently I've been pretty moody because of a guy (or two? haven't decided lol) has been giving mixed signs. I figured my mom was getting a little tired of the same news (we've discussed this crush about a hundred times already, and she's been very sympathetic. but sometimes repetition wears old). During class we were told to write a haiku, so I did. About love basically again. and I thought maybe I should try to write down my feelings in a more original way than a journal. I have a journal but I'm not a very consistent person sometimes so I often forget to update it. Poetry is a way to express yourself, and your emotions. I find poetry about death and love are often the best kind, also the most confusing kind. By coincidence I had an incredibly boring class after English and started to let my emotions 'flow' out onto some paper. and thus, the above poem was produced.

Despite having all the motivation in the world to express my self, during the writing, I just couldn't seem to remember how I was feeling. That doesn't really make sense but I couldn't seem to put my feelings down because I felt like I had. But I know I hadn't. So I sort of ended up repeating my self many times through out the poem.

I don't really have a solution to the problem in the poem. The equation hasn't been solved yet. I don't think I want my crush(es?) to see this because I don't think I want to really know what they feel for me. Unless it's what I want to hear. What I am doing though, could be considered giving up. I don't really put forth the effort the relationship could potentially deserve, but I'm definitely not finished with it. I think crushes though just fade away eventually and that might happen to this one. That's OK though. Sometimes it's fun just paying for the ride.

Oh and I will definitely try to write more down. I found writing poetry didn't really rid the emotion I was feeling like I hoped it would, but I think I found something to do instead of thinking about everything over and over again like I have been for so long
Thanks again for the comment!

Repetition is the only way you ever learn anything. You have to see it a million times from a million different views in order to really understand it, so don't worry about it. It will all work out you know! o:

Oh god, how beautiful! We've all been there, I'm certain, at one point or another, and this is just a beautiful outpouring of those feelings.

My favorite part;

All my eyelashes are dedicated to you,

Every single one of them must be faulty

For my wishes never come true.

You're occasional stares look empty,

Yet the way you blush as you glance sideways

Implies all otherwise.

I really can't tell what you want,

But I pray it's the same as what I want.

I think it was a brilliant choice to include the eyelashes thing. It took me a while to understand what you meant, but what can be more purely hopeful than wishing on eyelashes? ^_^ So cute. Of course, we'll substitute 'your' for 'you're', but I love that part to death. ^_^

Almost all the time,
I'm the one trying to make the conversation start
But you act so eager to be the one to make it end.
I'm often told you're just quiet.

The third line here gives me problems. You 'act' so eager to 'be the one to make it end'? =/ Hmm, how do I explain. I think it would be better if you just said 'but you act so eager to make it end'. Not to mention 'making' a conversation start is awkward phrasing in the first place, but at least you kept the parallel phrasing. ^_^

It's nothing but discouraging,
But it's only addicting.

Then here, you say it's /only/ discouraging, then say it's /only/ addicting, so I guess you need to pick one or the other. -gigglefits-

All in all, wonderful piece. ^_^ Keep it up!

This has concretized the feelings that reverberate around us youngsters.

I absolutely loved this. It was honest and simple and really realistic. No exagerrated feelings of tearing out hearts and baring souls. No over drama about dissolving words when he's gone. Simple, and so very real.

I still have years to impress you,

Absolutely a picture of the going-ons withing the hearts of a High School kid. It made me smile when I read this. It's like poetry form of a High School film or show or real life. It's amazing how you captured it.

All my eyelashes are dedicated to you,
Every single one of them must be faulty

The part above is my favorite.

Your ending was marvelous. Great job.
All that I'm after is a life full of laughter, as long as I'm laughing with you.:)
