Bedazzled
Caught like a deer, standing in headlights,
that’s what you did to me, one of those nights.
Late in the summer, early in our lives,
after I met you, I never quite saw right.
Don’t know how you did it,
can’t quite remember,
was dizzy in July,
still dizzy in September.
You bedazzled me!
Stopped me in my tracks, stopped me completely.
And now that you’re gone, I’m left seeing straight again,
I can’t take life without your bright light,
come bedazzle me again.
I was a hard man, I was a tough guy,
but I gave it all up, never asked why.
Maybe you blinded yourself as much as you blinded me,
now that we’re apart, is reality easier to see?
Or was I just someone, a clown to amuse you,
baby you’ve made such a fool out of me.
But hurt as I am, it’s probably true
that after all these years I’m still a fool for you.
You bedazzled me!
Stopped me in my tracks, stopped me completely.
And now that you’re gone, I’m left seeing straight again
I can’t take life without your bright light,
come bedazzle me again.
I never knew life in such high definition
all you did was sing, and all I did was listen.
I watched you in blindness, I watched you in bliss-
how can I live, is there more to life than this?
Come back to me, honey knock on my door.
You are the light, the light I was waiting for.
Don’t forget all my love, all the things that I said-
don’t just give back my heart, and pat me on the head.
You bedazzled me!
Stopped me in my tracks, stopped me completely.
And now that you’re gone, I’m left seeing straight again
I can’t take life without your bright light,
come bedazzle me again.
