Dads
Dads are perfect for some things.
Things like tucking you in at night,
Pulling the covers up under your chin.
Or holding you in a towel
When you climb out of the pool.
Things like holding you when you cry.
And not caring that you stain their clothes
With your salty tears.
But some things, dads don’t work for.
Things like talking about dances,
And dates.
Talking about boys.
There are just some things
That dads aren’t great for.

Aw this reminded me of my own father!
He's awesome, but not that great with the big stuff. Luckily I'm old enough that I can pretty much do stuff on my own now.
This is such a great poem! It's short and sweet. Keep writing!
There is so much said in the silence. But writing, for me, became a way of fighting the repression, of protecting no one, of saying everything. I began to write to save my own life.

This is a great poem Cbwriterchick!

I just have a question : (this being my first poetry review and that I am a horrible poet.)

The lines at the begining seemed to be child things (I.e - Tucking you in at night)

While the end seemed to be more teenager-ish activties.

Were you trying to imply that fathers are only great when your a little kid?

Or maybe I`m looking to hard for meaning...

You Can make it all go away
The pain the suffering
The Hurt You Put her through
Let you won't;
You can't
So for every love She knows
Another stich she sews

Because this is a very loose and relaxed poem (it doesn't have a certain format or rhyme scheme) it is much more difficult to review. Even so, I personally can't think of anything to point out or correct (probably because this reminds me so much of the relationship I have with my dad).
I appreciate how you didn't try to draw it out any more than you needed to. You kept it short and sweet, and that worked just fine. I also think that your use of simple grammar gave it an extra feeling of a young girl who is expressing her love for her father; and the last line sort of brought the whole poem together.
If you had ended it with something like, 'and that is why dads are the most wonderful and greatest in the whole world', most people wouldn't be able to relate. Everyone has disagreements with their dad, and I think that is what made this poem so lovely and true: dad's aren't great for everything.

I enjoyed it very much. :D

Kudos
