a day is a VERY long time on earth. Well, a day in heaven. Maybe 7 days did not mean days as we know, because there was no life, light, world or anything to create our days. The thing you said about "a day is like a thousand years and a thousand years like a day" is a very good point that is often overlooked. 
Some creationists believe that the earth was created in six 24-hour days, but that time system wasn't developed until thousands of years later. I don't hate Obama quite as much as you do (jk); I disagree with him on some points, such as abortion, and agree with him on others. Overall I probably want McCain and Palin to win, but I'm not for sure. I guess I'll be pretty happy whoever wins. Either way, we'll find out tomorrow!
