This is the type of thing I am looking for for my contst >>>> topic37323.html
Obviously I'm not entering it myself, but I wanted to post my idea anyway! The song lyrics are not my own, so I cannot take credit for them but the story is based on the lyrics....
You used to say, everyday.
We will always be this way .
Flying Angels lifting high,
to reach the sun were I belong.
Girl you know you are the one.
Above the clouds I see you cry.
You know that when you smile you stop the rain
and we will be together once again.
Although I'm gone, remember me.
Please be strong I'll never leave.
and just hold on, to the memories.
Coz while I'll here, all I'm thinking about is tomorrow.
I've always know the love you've shown.
Means you'll never be alone
There'll be times you wonder why.
But seeing you with someone new.
Used to make me feel so blue.
But now I'm with you, all the time.
You know that when you smile you stop the rain
and we will be together once again.
Although I'm gone, remember me.
Please be strong I'll never leave.
Girl just hold on, to the memories.
Coz while I'm here, all I'm thinking about is tomorrow.
From the moment that I looked into your eyes.
All of my life I thought I'll be there by your side
I wish I'll took the time to find the words to say.
You know that when you smile, you stop the rain.
And we will be together once again.
Although I'm gone, remember me.
Please be strong I'll never leave.
Just hold on, to the memories.
Coz while I'm here, all I'm thinking about is tomorrow
Coz while I'm here, all I'm thinking about is tomorrow
Mark ran his right hand through his hair, leant against the whitewashed wall, and slid into a crumpled heap. His knees hurt in this position, but he was not in any state to rectify this situation. She used to say it will never change and it will always be the same. This didn’t look like it was the same to Mark. This most definitely looked like Amelia was with another man.
Tears fell onto his white shirt, but he had no control over when they were going to stop. Not a sound escaped his lips, but there was a heartbreaking look of confusion ever present on his face. Mark was just getting used to the heat of his new abode, yet was still amazed at how quickly his tears evaporated. It was almost like they had never existed. This angel lark isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, he thought sadly.
The television mounted on the wall opposite Mark, flickered on by itself. Mark looked up in bewilderment as her bedroom appeared on the screen. Was he supposed to watch this? Is this not wrong? His eyes grew wider as Amelia walked into view. Her hair was wet from the shower and she had her pink pyjamas with chocolate brown spots on. Mark had given them to her as a present with his first pay packet from working at the corner shop. It made him smile and his heart feel a little lighter to know that she was making use of them. He hoped she thought of him every second she was wearing them.
Her face was flushed from the heat of the shower and it took Mark a second or two to realise she was shaking with sobs. He felt her pain too. Rising from his crumpled position on the floor, he went towards the screen slowly and full of trepidation. He reached out and slowly and gently stroked her forehead and hair on the screen. It seemed to sooth her. This was what he had done for the past five years every time Amelia was upset; all the arguments with her parents, the stress of university, the death of her friend. What shattered Mark’s masculinity was the fact he couldn’t help her through the pain of losing him. He was dead, yet all he wanted to do was care for Amelia.
When she smiled, she was so beautiful. Classically beautiful. He often joked that her smile could stop the rain and on occasion, traffic. She used to playfully push him away and tell him to stop embarrassing her. Mark knew she enjoyed the compliment really. He knew they would be together again, but however selfish this sounded, he didn’t want to wait forty years or more to see the woman he loved. Mark was twenty years old, Amelia was twenty one, yet she had the rest of her life ahead of her. People say life is cruel, but it is not as cruel as death.
Amelia lay back on the bed and placed a hand on her stomach. Mark’s tears dissipated and he smiled contentedly. She didn’t know she was pregnant yet. He had left her with the best present anyone can ever give someone; the gift of life. A part of him would always be with her. Mark knew she would be absolutely thrilled at the prospect of a baby, but was worried that she may think she couldn’t cope on her own. He knew she would, but she needed that faith in herself. She had always been too modest for her own good.
Mark felt privileged to have known Amelia. The love she had for people and for life in general, meant that she was always going to be successful in relationships. She was a very good judge of character. Jonathan, her new “male friend” must be a nice guy. This only bothered Mark more, as he knew Jonathan was going to help Amelia get over his death. Selfishly, he wanted her to himself even though he was no longer able to be with her and conduct the same kind of relationship. At least, from heaven, Mark was able to watch her live and enjoy her life. It was just a shame he was no longer part of it.
Reaching in to the pocket of his jeans, Mark pulled out a small jewellery box. He had died walking out of a jewellery shop after purchasing an engagement ring for Amelia. Two men in black balaclavas and armed with hand guns tried to rob the store and Mark had been in the way in all the confusion, and was shot in the chest. Panic flitted across his face as he realised the box was empty. Again, the young man broke down as he frantically tore at his pockets looking for the piece of white gold.
Amelia had stopped crying and was staring at her left hand in amazement. Mark noticed and cried happy tears for the first time since his death. Now all Mark had to do was sit tight and wait for the day she came to him and they were reunited.
