Tasteless Love

What is love?
Something we hold dear
We have this picture in our minds
Of what love is suppose to be
It’s delicious chocolate that melts in your mouth
It’s a never ending song in your heart
That you can’t stop thinking about

We all have had these similar emotions
The same notions of what love is supposed to be
As a child it is merely a dream
As an adult it becomes a reality
And for me I thought my dream had come true

Had it not been for my clumsiness maybe
My dream would have stayed in my head

Some how I fell face first into love
And then fell backwards into betrayal

At first I couldn't wait for his soft lips to caresses mine
To be engulfed by his scent
And to feel his warm skin
As I looked into his eye I knew he could see the fire
Burning with passion and desire

But soon those turned into flames of anger and rage
And most of all hate so cruel
That when I walked into a room you could feel my wrath and fury

That song which was once so humble and sweet
Was replaced by wailing and endless sorrow
That melted chocolate turned
To dried blood dripping from my lip
His skin now scared with malice
A sign he wears bravely
As if he won this battle
Such ignorance on his behalf
To think he won something
As my love for him crashed and burned
Now I see that his love for me was just a shadow
As soon as I turned on the light it was gone

At first I couldn't wait for his soft lips to caresses mine

just caress

That was a really nice poem. When it first started going dark, I was a bit iffy about it. You'd set up this real magical mood, and then suddenly crushed it. But as I kept reading, I saw that the way you did it was perfect.

I especially liked the contrast between the music and the chocolate at the beginning and ending. It was real well done.

VERY nice contrast, I agree---one of the first things I noticed; thought it was well done!

His skin now scared with malice

scarred

A well done presentation of shattered dreams overall :)
