Dear Heartbreaker...(My reality)

Dear Heartbreaker,

It’s still me. I’m still the same person that I was when we started to walk together. I’m still the same, just slightly more broken. I still feel the same things, still want the same things. I still am hopelessly forgetful, ‘complicated’ and headstrong.

Shattered. Broken. Bleeding. Bruised. Scarred. All are adjectives that also apply. That was a low and fatal blow. I loved you. So much. Anything asked of me I would willingly do for you. I missed you, prayed for you, wished for you.

But I can’t make you understand; I can’t even make you feel remorseful. I wish you could see my pain, feel my pain. But you can’t.

I am not weak. Yes, I cried. I cried for nearly an hour, lying on my bed, trying to hold myself together. Each breath hurt, each thought a personal torment. Thoughts of all that I was subjected to for being with you, thoughts of what used to be my reality, thoughts shadowed in bittersweet memories. It was pathetic and I’m pathetic. But you are cruel.

My first real love, my first real broken heart. For a stupid, thoughtless, immature reason. Marriage. It’s not even legal to be married until the age of eighteen. I have no idea what the future brings, and I don’t expect eternal vows anytime soon. I am fifteen. Did you know that? You should; I turned fifteen when you were still my boyfriend. I got congratulations, an acknowledgement, from everyone but you.

Was marriage the real reason? Were you so ready to be rid of me that you jumped at the first shallow excuse supplied? Or was there something more? Something you were ashamed of, or something you couldn’t put into words? Maybe I’m over thinking this, but can you really blame me? You didn’t even have the decency to call me yourself. Do you have any idea how hard it was for me to…no, of course you don’t. Why would you? It’s not like you ever had to sacrifice your pride, your dignity, for me.

Maybe I’m not being fair. You did care for me, I know that much. To what extent, I don’t know. I wish I could talk to you and figure out what was going through your head when you told me that you wanted to be just friends.

Look, I’m sorry, but my feelings are now too complicated for friendship. I would prefer you either get out of my life, or let me live it pretending you were never in it. Not that you’ll do either, but to be honest, I’ll more likely despise you than be friendly to you the next time that we meet. I still don’t know how I restrained myself from throwing the phone out the window when you called – I mean, when I called.

After I had waited so long to talk to you, to just hear your voice and know that it wasn’t all just in my head, you completely ruptured everything. A little bit of a warning would have been nice. Especially after all you said you’d do. Call me every weekend? Ha! You probably don’t even know my phone number. Do stuff together over the summer? Oh, please.

You know, I think my friends were right. You’re too immature for me. I was always looking out for you, standing up for you, holding us together. No longer.

I hope you’re happy. I hope your mother is happy. I hope the whole damn world is happy. This is the most complaint you’ll get from me. So just go live your isolated, blissfully ignorant, sheltered, self-righteous life and leave me alone.

P.S. - Goodbye.

Sincerely,
The girl with the broken smile

I don't really want dissections of this or cutting-edge reviews.
Just tell me if this letter made you feel anything.
Because this is not fiction.

wow....this is....wow. that was one of the best writings I ever read.

you know, I don't think anyone could even begin to dissect this. It so...........I cant even think of a word to discribe it.

I like this alot. It's so heartfelt and full of emotion. And if anyone says that's not a poem, they should be...use your imagination. That is more of a poem than anyone could write.

hope you find someone who can fix smiles.

hey... that was good.

no, really.

but don't be so sad, bffl. don't try to feel so much, you might just explode.

don't try to love so hard that you get hurt so easily. don't try to grow up so fast. don't be so willing to let go of the world for him, only to find that he didn't want you to.

i know you loved him, but you can't hold people to such high expectations. emotion like that is strong enough to scare away a lot of guys.

so just be happy, bffl. childhood is too short to waste being miserable. especially over a guy.

i love you and i always will forever and ever! ... and ever! sorry, i am actually, believe it or not, taking this seriously.

it's beautiful, really, but too emotional for you. too dramatic. i want don't want you to look at this letter for awhile. don't even think about it anymore. and when you're done thinking about him, when you're truly over him and don't have that hanging over you, clouding your thoughts anymore, then, and only then, do i want you to read this again. trust me, you'll see. you'll see that it's a beautiful letter, full of emotion, but it's not you. i don't want you wasting your last years of childhood like this, unhappy and acting too mature.

just be you. don't be this person.
i love you, bffl, but i don't love the girl with the broken smile.

This is good. Emotions are depicted, and I hope that you sent this to the son of a bitch you did this to you :]

I'm not going to critique this at all actually, I'm just going to talk about it. And him. And you, because if this isn't fiction, that's probably what you want to hear not "oh, you missed a comma over there."

Anyway. Boys aren't worth the time to say their name. Boys aren't worth the time it took you to write this letter to him.

You see, all guys like to think that they are different, that the movies just make us out to be assholes when we really aren't.

That's a lie. Guys don't know what love is until it's too late. Until that girl won't take them back. They always think that they can walk all over you, and you'll be there waiting for them with open arms and a broken smile in the end. And all we have to do is apologize and give you some excuse and you'll forgive us.

Don't forgive this guy.

I don't know what "marriage" means in this letter, but it is still a lame excuse.

Forget him. Don't think about him.

That was really something, just wow. If I was the guy reading this at first I'd be thinking "my god she's such a fucking loser' but after a couple lines I was more like :o. The emotion in this was really powerful, hope that prick realises what he's lost.

Whether you forgive him or not is up to you, and I hope everything turns out well.

Good luck, that letter was really something - and to get to me (on a real emotional level) is something. I'm not even the guy who this was directed at but if I was him and I read this... well I'd be depressed and confused for days if not weeks.

Are you considerin' giving it to the guy?

Umm, well I thought about giving it to him, I'll admit.
I don't think I will, though.
It would just be awkward now.

Thanks for the great reviews, guys.
I wrote this the day he broke up with me, and I was really hurt.

I'm doing better now, though.
:)
