Finally to be heard
If everyone beleived in the same thing, could it be changed? Would you want to change it?
What if the change started in school? What if that boy who had just gotten book-dropped had someone there to help him?
The truth is the first step to change starts with one person.
Example- that boy had no one to help him. He continues his day depressed and alone. He feels that he isn't good enough. He thinks because no one cares about him, he is a failure.
Fast forward a few years. The boy is sitting in his one bedroom apartment on an old torn couch. He is thinking of middle school and how then he wanted to go to college and become a doctor. He bows his head. He then remembers high school where he sat in the corner of class hopeing that for once he could be invisible. A tear runs down the boy's cheek. He goes into his bedroom and opens the night stand. He takes out his father's old gun. He glances at his Burger King uniform, still and forever stained from the grease of the grill. He sits on the bed and grabs the nearest piece of paper. One this paper he wrote his suicide note.
He places the note on his bed, then put the gun in his mouth. It took him a few seconds to gather the courage but finally the loud bang echoes through the whole building.
In his note he said that all he wanted was one person in high school to be friends with. He wanted one of those nine girls he asked to the prom, to just say yes. But most of all he wanted to go home to a joyful place with out his father screaming at him for the bruises he had recieved form his after school beatings.
This is not a true story but it could happen.
The truth is that there is always someone who needs our help. But we are cowards who are too afraid that by helping we will damage our own reputation. But if we help, then we could change the lives of teens just like that boy. One action can change their whole day.
So what are you waiting for. You could be a hero. You could change a life.
This year when school starts up again, instead of walking by. Stop and Act.
"CHANGE A LIFE. OUR TIME IS NOW!"
