Wrote this just now, had to post it before I go to sleep.
A beautiful thing happened this night—
the storm clouds moved in.
Gradually they cradled the city,
hovering over head, protecting.
The moon shown through them—
poking itself out.
A joyous glint of light,
playing peak-a-boo
with the metropolitan night.
The city noise stopped
as the first raindrop struck.
The sound of sirens drowned
in the blissful drone of rain.
Wrapped in a blanket of water
the city finally sleeps.
