My Thoughts on My Poetry

My poetry is
my feelings written down
as a complex metaphor
in the guise of simple imagery.

However, I feel
that my best written mysteries
are sometimes best expressed
by the reader,
in their hope to interpret further meaning
than originally intended.

It is free to be interpreted
as your own, but always
with my own story behind it,
which you will not always know.

Just a simple little truth I thought best expressed poetically. ;)

ooooh Yoyo that was great, and yet so true that was like the coolest poem on the face of the earth lol. I miss chatting with you!!! But that was one good poem/truthful advice? No? Maybe? haha

Sweet poem, I agree with you. Sometimes the interpretations of others are almost more interesting than the truth - but the truth is always something a bit sacred to keep. That's a good thing about writing poetry =]

Hi! I'm Aussie, nice to meet you!

Hmmm . . .I get what you're saying here. I think we all get what you're saying her, because we're all writers. But writing something that's true and deep doesn't necessarily make it what you might call a great poem. Notice I said 'great'. This is good, but it's not great. Let me see if I can help with that.

I think your main issue here is that you're saying, "hey there, this is why I wright, okay?". Honestly, it doesn't make me care very much. for me, writing is like I live my entire life with this itching, brooding, seething tension crawling up and down my veins and arteries and the only way to make it go away is to write. Writing is a way of telling myself that these things I'm feeling aren't just me, their human things, and maybe my readers will feel the same thing and we can feel them together, and be strong for sharing them.

See, that's not a poem, but already (I hope) I evoked something in you, something that goes, "Oh yeah, I guess that's me, too." If you can turn your poem into something along those lines, it will go up a whole bunch. Go ahead and use some of my words from this post if you want to, I don't care.

PM me if you have any questions.
