Music with a story behind it is always a great inspiration for writing. What kinds of musicals do you like? Any specific musicals you'd like to mention? Why did you like them?

I couldn't possible choose between them...both types are incredible played on stage and in movies--just in different ways. I saw Oklahoma on stage in NY and then saw the movie a few years later. I loved them both equally, just in different ways. I refuse to vote! LOL...

I loved it. I'll admit that it had its flaws, but I still adore it. Emmy Rossum was fantastic (can you believe she's only seventeen?!) and Patrick Wilson as Raoul was marvelous. The Phantom was a bit unorthodox, but that's to be expected from Andrew Lloyd Webber.

Technically, PotO IS an opera. An opera is defined by the amount of dialogue in the production. Technically, any opera is a musical, but not every musical is an opera.
Thank you Crysi. Phantom of the Opera, THE STAGE PRODUCTION. In fact, any show should be the stage production. On video? It should be like Into The Woods--THE STAGE PRODUCTION--filmed. But it's just the stage version on film, nothing more. I hate Emmy Rossum.
