Prose That Makes Me Puke

Nothing too interesting, just a little post about authors that I particularly dislike. If you've got anyone vomit-worthy to add to the list, by all means, say so!

...I guess that's all I can think of right now. Which authors do you all hate with burning passions?

I can't stand Stephanie Meyer.

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. Rowling had to devolve her writing so it'd match the crappy plot.

Hmm...

I don't know. I usually finish reading books I check out, I usually like all of them. Never really read one I disliked.

I don't like J.K. Rowling that much, though.

Early J.K. Rowling. Early Stephen King.

I loved Terry Goodkind when I was in high school. I recent reread the Sword of Truth and wanted to smash my face in. WHY did I ever like those books?

Christopher Paolini. His writing is so vomit-worthy, it's not even worth vomiting over, if that makes any sense.

You didn't even have to mention that one, Fand; it's just a given.

Prokaryote

Stephenie Meyer - but ONLY when her prose consists of describing in excruciating detail the angelic, supermodel good looks of teenage vampires. When she's writing about said teenage vampires murdering other vampires or aliens invading human hosts, she's an excellent writer.

Same with Cassandra Clare. I love her books, but I DON'T want a mental image of Jace Wayland's face from every single angle.

Stephen King? Vomit-worthy? I think his short stories are so clever. He may be a "junk writer", but he knows how to entertain. I adore him!

On the other hand I despise Terry Goodking. UGH. That's some bad stuff right there. I can't even read it.

And I am in utter loathing of Nora Roberts.

Tolkien is as entretaining as gouging your own eyeballs out.

I detested Madame Bovary. The prose was as good as it could be given that nothing happened in the entire novel until the closing scenes (there is no aspect of that sentence that should be considered complimentary to that text).
