I seem to like to write about truth, it plays such an important role in my life, but that's a story for another day....Well, here's my latest poem, it's kind of short, and there are things wrong, but I haven't been able to fix it, so, what should I do with it?

The truth, at any degree,
Whether fact or confession,
is the one way to be free.
Free from the past,
And that which binds, too,
your life of shadow and discord;
Let all memories escape you.
Just like one and two make three
The truth will always be,
The one true constant,
So, Speak up,
If you agree

Thanks for reading! And as always, I know I am a horrendous speller, no need to remind me. Thank you!

I liked it up to here. But the rest sounds corny.

First off, you used a bit too much punctuation. It might just be me, but I don't like commas in the middle of lines. In the last four lines, you don't really need any of those commas. Try reading it out loud and seeing where the natural pauses come, or inserting punctuation where you would put it in paragraph form.

I'm not sure if I would choose a topic like "Truth" for a poem. It's an abstraction, like Love, Beauty, Happiness, Freedom, Peace, etc. These words are pretty vague and mean different things to different people. Therefore, it's hard to write anything with meaning about them.

A better way to tackle such a broad subject would be to focus on a specific experience. Have you ever been lied to? Lied to someone? Told someone the truth? Had someone confess something to you? Try describing that using sensory description and interesting metaphors. It's hard, but you could probably churn out something great.

Keep writing! 8)

I like everything except the last two lines. They sounded to corny and cliche. Everything else blown me away. Good Job.

To be a master of metaphor is the greatest thing by far. It is the one thing that cannot be learnt from others, and it is also a sign of genius.
