'Ello, all.

Sam won 2nd place in my first contest: Cal's Colorful Contest. One of her prizes was a fanmix, she wanted one for D is for Diphtheria. Go read it if you haven't already.

:D

The second part was so large I split it into two zips for convenience.

I have made a decision. I will no longer be offering single song downloads in my fanmixes, for two reasons, one it takes forever, and two it is a lot of work. So it will just be the zips of the sides for y'all now. The good thing is that for you guys I will be posting mixes faster.

Enjoy your prize, Sam.

Ta,
Cal.

1. If She Wants Me by Belle and Sebastian
Someone above has seen me do all right
Someone above is looking with a tender eye upon her face—
you may think you’re alone, but you may think again.

If I could do just one near-perfect thing I’d be happy
They’d write it on my grave, or when they scattered my ashes.
But on second thoughts, I’d rather be there with my best friend, if she wants me.

For Carl and Sukie.

9. Heart of Glass by Puppini Sisters

19. Junkyard by Page France
You me, and all the kings and queens, buried in the junkyard,

and love until your hands bleed.

[ZIP: CHRYSANTHEMUM GRACE PART I] // [ZIP: CHRYSANTHEMUM GRACE PART II]

1. People Get Ready by The Frames
People all get ready
'Cos we're tearing down the stand
Rebuild what's gone unsteady
And see it through with newer hands
And what has gone between us
Is a lot, is a lot
And who'll be there to clean us
If you're not, if you're not

[…]

To get it right, to get it right
We have all the time in the world
To set alight, to set alight

For the kids of New Prague.

2. Slide by Ani Difranco
She laid down in her party dress
And never got up
Needless to say, she missed the party

But we never see things changing
We only see them ending

5. Song Against Sex by Neutral Milk Hotel
He said, “Oh, boy, you are so pretty…”
And when I finally kissed him, the whole world began to ring.

Always aching, always heading for mass suicide, occult figurines, and wasted gas station attendants, attending to their jobs.
And a nice drive in the country becomes a nice cliff to drop off of,
oh, when this life just gets so grating, all the grittiness of life…

And I might be mistaken but…

10. Bon Idee by Regina Spektor
Don’t tell your secrets to anyone
Because ideas are vulnerable

15. Midnight Coward by Stars
sweetness, sweetness never suits me, when I get up to take you home
maybe it's love, love at first slightly drunk

how long should I stay?
promises, promises never cease to assist it, now I’m back on my back
please bite your words

A song for Sukie.

6. A Match Made In Texas by Her Space Holiday
He’s towing the line
He’s gender-defined
It’s the magic of America—we’re always so American.

The truth of it is, he just wants to kiss that boy she’s talking to
The one that seems to own the room
The way that he dances and the touch of his hands
and the unapologetic way his tiny clothes stick to his frame.

[…]

It’s her confident charm and the curve of her arms
That tightly bends her circuitry into a twisted mass of interesting.

The first for Carl and Todd, Todd and Mandy, Ashley, and for Carl and Sukie’s collective lack of understanding of the meaning of gender stereotype. The second is for Sukie.
