I guess it's supposed to happen.

But that doesn't change the fact that it's a sad thing, right? I mean, you've been with these people almost all your life, and seeing us drift apart for no good reason at all is just depressing. Nobody says anything, though. I don't think they even understand. We just laugh less, and tell each other less things about ourselves. And there's awkward silences. And suddenly you're having more fun with people you just met than with your lifelong friends.

And next year we'll be in college. And then the next we'll probably just say hello to each other at parties. And then in about twenty years we'll hug each other in the street, and smile, and ask how are you doing, and how's life treating you, and it'll always be the same bullshit. Every time. And around that time, maybe I won't notice it much. Maybe I'll say: that's life. Hell, I'll have a kid or something, and that'll be more important than some dude I used to hang around with when I was a kid.

But... You know? Right now? It feels like it matters. Like it is important. Damn.

Last night was a blast. It had been a while since we had all gone out and said: I want to get drunk. We went to this godforsaken bar with tiki torches, and wooden sculptures, and drinks made out fruits, and some other stuff. One of them was called 'Arde papi' and it was spicy. We drank, and played around. We sang old rock songs, and helped each other throw up. We walked through the streets screaming, and flashing people. It was fun. You know how they say these are the best years of our lives?

Well, asshole, you ain't kidding.
there are many problems in our times
but none of them are mine

I feel like this is one of those things that I should feel all warm-fuzzy about in the end. I should say, "Wow, yeah, he's right," because you have ideology in it (I think that is the word) but instead it just kind of sounds like... well, honestly, it sounds like a blog post.

And then the title makes me question the piece, as well. You call it Elegy, well, an Elegy is a poem of mourning, and this isn't a poem so... I am rather confused, you can see.

I'm not sure what I think about it. Sorry, I don't think I was in the least bit helpful.

It was interesting. You definitely capture something about the simplicity and joy of youth. At the same time, you invoke suicidal thoughts of mourning. I don't know if this poetry, per se, but it would make an excellent monologue in a book about someone who didn't want to grow up.
I know what it's like for all my friends to leave, you hit that pretty close to the head too.
Well written and depressing. But that's what it's supposed to be, right?

Such is life, or is that not necessarily what you meant? I'm not entirely sure that 'Elegy' was the right name for this piece. There are other ways to say that something is slipping from your grasps. This sounded, not like the workings of a modern day Peter Pan, but like the bitter and frusturated pain of losing something that you will miss dearly. I'm not sure if it was written to express such things, but I get the feeling that perhaps you're expressing the cynic's view of growing up and leaving the realm of comfortability. Either way, a very truthful piece, though I think that the profanity at the end was unnecessary.
A poet must take the thorns so that others may enjoy the roses that have been made red through no act of nature.

I'm not sure if i liked the tone of the ending very much, but I enjoyed the title because it is an elegy in a way. True, it's not a poem of mourning, but it is mourning the fragile bonds that tie friends together and dissolve as each friend goes through their own life journey that slowly seperates them from their pack. I thin you captured youth very well with the last paragraph.

i found this to be very true, people come and go, some are meant to stay in your life, but most move on to live different lives.

your story shows me that you wrote it while feeling the emotion of the loss of friends.
sad but true, everyone goes through that time in life at one point or another.

you did a great job showing how life changes.

Poem or not, I thought this piece was actually very good. You captured your message clearly in a very impressive tone. My one tip for you is to review your pronoun use in the first half. It may have seemed more "poetic" when you wrote it, but the you, them, we is fairly confusing when used in that way.
