[pre]The thing about mud is
That it’s not just what you think.
It’s not just odor and dirt and slop.
The thing about mud is
That it’s more than meets the eye.
More than glop
And gross
And grime
More than the name implies
The thing about mud is
That it is pure beauty
More beautiful than a sky
Or a bird
Or a sunkissed blonde girl
Than a canyon
Or an ocean
Or a VanGough
Because mud
Is
Pure
Earth

The very essence of nature
The very ground beneath your feet
All the purest of purity
In one goopy
Gloopy
Squishy
Perfection

And
If you happen to touch it,
Or stand in it,
Or lay in it,
All the stress and the worry and the pressure and the weight of the world
Slides right off your shoulders into the muck
Which hold on
Forever
And never lets go
So the worries
Are gone
For good[/pre]

Nice. I like what you're saying here. The idea evolved as it went along, and it wasn't too mindlessly positive. A few notes:

There's a few places in the beginning where you rhyme, speecifically "slop" with "glop". This might be unintentional, but "glop" feels manufactures, so either commit to rhyming (which you could definately do with this topic) or drop it.

or a VanGough

This might just be a typo, but it's "Van Gogh"

Or a sunkissed blonde girl

This line feels forced. Try something a little less cliche.

It was fresh, and original (to me). It seems that this is one of your first posts, so I look forward to seeing more stuff.
Incedentally, have you actually lain down in mud like that? It sounds interesting...
If I don't get you, PM me!

Oof, I'm not so sure about this. I don't think it's really, uhm.. anything? Actually I don't even know. When I reada poem, I tend to class it as something in my mind, like; funny, stupid, scary, classy and sad. But this didn't really conjure up anything in my mind and all I did was read it.

Sorry, maybe it's personal preference and I know I'm not being much help by not telling you how to improve, but this has me well and truly stumped.
