Past and Present Toys
Toys have always been a necessity for kids. Toys are used to teach kids, expand their imagination or to occupy their time. Silly Putty is from the past and was actually invented by mistake. A scientist was making synthetic rubber, when silly putty was created. The amazing fact was when pressed against any printed object it would copy itself onto the silly putty. Children have always played with toys all through there childhood years. Although toys from the past required more imagination, toys from all times have helped kids pass time, without driving there parents up the wall.
Toys from the past required imagination, and not batteries. In the past boys begged for a set of army men, not war based video games. Army men sets required imagination by forcing the boys who played to create war-like scenarios, along with sounds. While now boys have to just figure out the easiest way to put the game stick into the console without scratching the disk, and putting forth more effort than necessary. Also in the past girls made their own baby doll cloths that were more durable than any store bought clothes made today. They also had doll furniture. In the past it was small, and had intricate designs of workmanship. However, Now kids beg for the basic of doll cloths and doll furniture that will break or rip in 2 weeks worth of use.
Kids have always had fun with toys, from the 1950’s Frisbee or the highflying disk. To the 1999’s fury, a creature that brought a smile to every boy or girls face. When the Frisbee was first invented, and kids who saw that high soaring disk, would always exclaim, “wow, what’s that”. The hula-hoop was another 1950’s favorite; it brought kids from all over the city to see who could hula –hoop the longest, fastest or with more than one hoop. Also the jump rope, and the sport of double Dutch became popular in the schools, and so a national double Dutch championship was held. In the 1800, two pieces of throwaway cloth would be used to play capture the flag, after all chores were done, of course.
Toys have always been played with by children, and always will be. Form the first game of catch with a dull rock to the latest video game system, toys will always offer a fun way to pass time, Evan if not always improving imagination to kids. Will batteries be in every toy in the future?
