Hi everyone, it's Asa! how do I spell it, uh, like the "a" from "under" and then just "sa" from "saturday", perhaps?

When talking in English, I need to fix my spelling multiple times until it clicks :-D

Asa means morning in Japanese. But honestly, I rarely wake up in the morning (ba-dum-tss). It's either I have to pull all-nighter so I sleep by morning, or I wake up at noon, that's all. But morning was special to me :smt054

Self-introducing, I am not used to it. I was working in software professionally for few years, then switch into a barista, and now I am kinda doing whatever I feel like doing. so it's a bit hard for me to label myself, like, what am I? wow sounds philosophical, isn't it?

actually one of my favourite genre is philosophy. Not the kind of books that write all the theoretical of philosophy. But rather a book that trying to inflict a philosophical question in my brain, my favourite was No Longer Human by Osamu Dazai.

first of all I'd like to put a disclaimer that, in case anything I mention could trigger something, I'm really sorry for that. and please feel free to moderate my post accordingly. Because I am not keep up with the internet trend, where one get "banned" or something by the community. so please spare me.

alright let's continue, shall we?
I'm not going to say I read a lot, but when I'm feeling to, I'm kinda able to read anything. I read novel, light novel, comic, manga, or anything. I tried to write/draw them sometimes, but it's just hard without any supervision. It feels like you kinda write or draw endlessly, do you get that kind of feeling?

so recently, I am into contest. like writing contest, or anything. even if someone offer a group project to me, I am willingly to accept it. It's weird enough that with deadline, the boundary, makes me could write or draw more without the endless feeling. but since submitting to a contest only have the deadline boundary, I barely improved because not all contests are giving a feedback to the submission.

so that is why I am here, at youngwriterssociety :) I want my writing is actually being read, and someone give a feedback to me. In different place, for a new user, its hard to get a traffic, and its barely give any unbiased feedback. thus I'm so excited to be here!

thank you for the warm welcome. I'm looking forward!

Ah the plight of pronuncation, I know that really well (I will never ever get ppl to pronounce the name "Fyra" like I envision it in my head!)

Sounds like you lived an interesting life so far! What made you walk away from Software?
I am also interested in books with grand ideas (I really like the Children of Time series by Adrian Tchaikovsky)

I work horribly with deadlines myself so I'm always happy to see ppl who excel under the pressure =D

Excited to see you here and happy writing and reviewing~

Thank you! It's not like I walk away from software. But rather I walk away from the professional work or from the software industry, I think.

The main reason is probably because I want to treat people as people. So I want to be treated as people as well. It was easy to blame someone for something. Shoving unreasonable responsibility to someone then blame from any mistake it produced. I never want such a behaviour in my team, but higher up keep shoved us with it. It broke my team one after another. Higher up didn't see it as a critical problem that require immediate fix. During that time, my software passion was broken so hard that I got emotional and left for good.

I returned once as a normal engineer who didn't lead a team in a different company. But such practice was still happening. I forced myself for months, pulling all-nighter, going to office in early morning, all that routines even being sick. I was like, why am I doing all of this? like what for.

During that time I started to explore different things while working, basically just doing enough for the work, clock out on time, never respond to after office hour notifications. Once I settled with different things, I quit for good. At first I was helping my friends with their random stuff, then doing open source, and now helping my friends with their internal software :)

I haven't heard of this title, I'll definitely put it in the list. thank you! The other author I like is Paulo Coelho, it feels majestic to me and made me want to sit and just think of life.

I am bad with deadlines actually haha but in a way that I see deadline differently perhaps. but of course there is a time I didn't manage to finish before the deadline. so yeah, I have to keep practising so I can manage the deadline well! :)

thank you!

It is very nice to meet you, Asa! I also love philosophy. I am looking forward to reading some of your writing soon! :)
Who's to say that my light is better than your darkness? Who's to say death is better than your darkness? Who am I to say?

I am not what happened to me, I am what I choose to become.
