In the quiet corners of my mind,
Where echoes of doubt softly unwind,
A whispering weight, heavy and still,
Each thought a mountain, each breath a hill.
I promise this type of pain only gets worse

In the stillness of night,

when shadows stretch like fingers,

the whispers begin.

They creep,

slithering through the cracks of my thoughts,

a cacophony of doubt,

each voice a reminder

of what I cannot escape.

The walls,

once my sanctuary,

now close in,

breath heavy with despair.

I hear them chuckle,

the phantoms of my past,

their laughter a chilling echo,

a dirge for dreams long buried.

The mirror reflects a stranger,

eyes hollow,

a ghost in flesh,

haunted by the specter of inadequacy.

I reach out,

but the surface is cold,

the warmth of hope

long since extinguished.

Outside, the world is garbed in festivity,

children in masks,

demanding treats,

unaware of the trickery twisted

within the confines of my mind.

I watch them through the window,

a voyeur of joy,

sipping on the bitterness of solitude.

The clock ticks like a metronome,

measuring moments of despair,

each chime a countdown

to the abyss that beckons,

where shadows dance,

and the night swallows whole

what little light remains.

The air grows thick,

heavy with the scent of decay,

as if the very essence of hope

has rotted away.

I brace myself,

for I know what lies ahead—

the embrace of darkness,

the final whisper,

a lullaby of surrender.
I promise this type of pain only gets worse

The Pendulum's Swing

In the quiet of dawn, I rise,

A pendulum swinging, between lows and highs,

Electric bursts of manic delight,

Then the shadows creep in, swallowing light.

Ideas flood like a raging tide,

Creativity unleashed, I’m filled with pride,

But the crash is relentless, a thief in the night,

Leaving me shattered, devoid of flight.

The world spins fast, a dizzying race,

Then it slows to a crawl, an empty space,

I chase the euphoria, a fleeting embrace,

Yet the stillness that follows, I cannot face.
I promise this type of pain only gets worse

blaze of fury, I spiral and climb,

With a heart full of fire, craving more time,

But the flames roar louder, I totter on brink,

A tightrope of chaos, where shadows can slink.

The world’s a war zone, my mind's a battleground,

Each word a bullet, each glance a wound,

Tethered to rage, yearning for touch,

A pirouette with darkness, it hurts far too much.

At the edge of despair, I stumble and sway,

A storm within me, beckoning decay,

Yet in the tempest, a flicker ignites,

Resilience awakens, challenging the nights.
I promise this type of pain only gets worse

I start to wander alone,

I am a fragile existence, my heart turned to stone,

The laughter around me, mere whispers of pain,

As I sink in the echoes, drowning in my own disdain.

Moments of joy feel borrowed, like theft,

I wear a brave mask, yet inside, I'm deprived,

Longing for connection, a spark in the dark,

But the shadows consume me, extinguishing my spark.

Each day a reminder, a weight on my chest,

I crave the sweet solace, a fleeting rest,

Yet the darkness wraps tight, a siren’s embrace,

In this maze of despair, I lose my grace.
I promise this type of pain only gets worse

Who's to say that my light is better than your darkness? Who's to say death is better than your darkness? Who am I to say?

Now I realize that there is no righteous path, it’s just people trying to do their best in a world where it is far too easy to do your worst.
