I need to get back into poetry, so I'm challenging myself to write one poem every week using different styles and techniques. These are based off of my experiences and emotions.

From my father's perspective

I Want to Read Your Poetry

I want to read your poetry.
Isn't that my right? My privilege?
I should get to read what you write.
What do you mean it's too personal?
Nothing should be hidden from me.
You should tell me everything.
Poetry is not a secret activity.

Anger

My anger is like a flash fire
Quick to erupt
quick to disappear
There is always something left to love.

The Granny Square

The yarn scrunches and bunches up,
getting more and more messy
from my countless attempts
to shape it into a square.

My mind unravels faster than the yarn.
It's not satisfied with what I created.
There's not enough corners. Too many stitches.
I start over before I even begin.
There is always something left to love.
