carrying the burden
of long dead dreams
these puffy eyes of mine
weary and sleep deprived,
devoid of all happiness-
which were washed away
with the tears of failure,
leaving two dry sockets
looking cold like marbles
sitting in a black hole
and staring into infinity
absorbing every ray
of hope that falls on it.
