APRIL MADNESS Hello to the year 2020, and to this new wave for April Madness. This is a competition that maybe just as traditional as NaPo itself, for YWS at least. This has been run by @Rydia and @alliyah this past year. What is April Madness? Poets face off to determine who the best YWS poet for this year, through a series of rounds by submitting poems to be tested against the poems of their opponents! All poems must be written in April. 2. Poems can be written in any genre or length. 3. Poems must be submitted on this thread (either the poem or a link to it) by 10:00pm PDT on the day of the round. 4. Poems may not be reused from previous rounds, unless it's a poem used for the final round. What will the contest look like? This will be a bracket-formed competition, as viewed here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1idFvZK4xVWCOnv7ph_PmfnUgswXxU6xcKuIFNULK7N0/edit?usp=sharing Last year's April Madness can be seen here as an example! When will each round be? Round One Pairings will be announced April 5th, while poems must be posted between April 6th - April 10th 10:00pm PDT - results alongside the next round pairings will be announced by April 13th. Round Two Poems must be posted between April 13th - 17th 10:00 PDT - results alongside the next round pairings will be announced by April 20th. The poets who lost the first round will also write a poem for Round 2, for the "loser's bracket" and compete against each other for a spot in the next round. Round Three The two winners of the "loser's bracket" will be added into the last two groups for the third round. Poems must be posted between April 20th and April 24th 10:00 PDT - results alongside the next round pairing will be announced by April 27th. Round Four For the final round, the last two poets will compete directly against each other, by submitting a poem between April 27th and May 1st 10:00 PDT. Final results will be announced by May 3rd.
