all i
do is regurgitate all
my vowels in
the opposite order. my
consonants are tangled in
a barrel; to pull
out one is to
bury
yourself in my
unspoken words. remember
how i used to
sort through them
so carefully? this
past year is
a kaleidoscope of
misjuggled words: please
catch and rephrase, my
meaning is lost behind "i'm sorry"
and "please be patient"
and "I don't know what I'm doing".

this is what i know--that every syllable
is a miracle i long
to repeat past
its expiration date. the
only thing that
comes with ease is
the doubt.

Surround yourself with people who are serious about being writers, and who will tell you, ‘Hey—you can do better than this.’ Who will be critical of your work, but also supportive. And who will not be competitive in a negative way.
