October is the Month of PlanMo

That's right everybody! As the title suggests, October is the month of PlanMo and none other than the Resources crew and friends is this going to be held by! For those who don't know, PlanMo stands for Planning Month or Month of Planning which refers to the event that comes next month, NanoWriMo! As many may know, NanoWriMo is an event that originated off-site and basically, the goal is to write 50,000 words in a month or 1,667 words each day. In case anybody doesn't know about Nano, here's the official website where more information can be found about National Novel Writing Month.

In preparation of NanoWriMo, we're setting sails into the ocean of brainstorming, outlining and planning. Expect workshops as well as other fun activities for the month of October because we're readying our bodies to participate in PlanMo. This'll be relayed or repeated later on when we come closer to this time but our first event will take place on the sixth so look forward to that! More information on the specific time and the event is coming soon. ;)

Way, way back in the 1988 Presidential election, then Vice President George H W Bush had a phrase he liked to use: "A Thousand Points of Light." It refers to the idea that a community is made up of people who contribute in a thousand, different small ways, but with each helping to illuminate their community. It's a phrase I think about a lot when it comes to YWS. Looking forward, the site will continue to change and grow, but it will always remain a community dedicated to promoting creative writing as a favorite pastime.
