I organize using all of these arbitrarily (wow that was really hard to spell...). My iTunes list is a series of CDs, artists, random play lists and a variety of show tunes and disney music. But ALWAYS alphabetical.

and this playlist has all my Utada Hikaru songs in the front, then BoA, then Koda Kumi, then Misc. Then each artist has the albums in alphabetical order.
Most of my cds have recently ended up on the floor... I really need to sort them out. I have an ipod but it doesn't have any music on it because my computers too old to use it.

I don't really own CDs... I download most of my music off Itunes. :] If they have it... or I borrow the CD off my friends and copy it. :] But with songs and that, it's always Artist.
Playlists. There's the purchased playlist and Playlist 1, which is nice, calm songs, and Playlist 2, which is upbeat and inspiring songs, then my Best Songs playlist, and a Working Out playist...yeah. But then by artist.
