The Iliad

With six assignments due and only six days of school left I figured I'd better get a crack on my English Literature assignments, considering I've handed every single one in late so far this term.

Anyway, we're doing a comparison on two narrative poems and one of mine is The Iliad however I'm not sure exactly which part of the poem to do, considering it's so long.
Any advice?

I'm doing the Iliad and Dorothy Porter's 'Akhenaten'

However what I mainly need is a suggestion on which part of the Iliad would be best for analysing.

Hmm. Well since I've never read Porter's epic, I don't know how much help I'd be, but maybe you could do the section in book six (is it six?) where Hektor goes into Troy to bring Paris back into the fight and he has a moment with his son and Andromache.

Then there's book five, the Diomedia, so maybe you could compare how Homer portrays his heroes as opposed to Porter's.

Then there's either book nine or ten (I can't remember since I haven't read this book in two years) where the gods decide to intervene again... of course, the gods are all over the epic. So maybe you could compare the way Porter depicts a divine force, as opposed to Homer's gods and goddesses romping all over the story.

It's only eight in the morning, so I'm out of ideas. And since I haven't read the other poem, I'm not sure how much help that'll be.
