Baby Blue Rosary

Fell asleep with my rosary
baby blue, tied around a belt loop;
not tired—no sleep around—
only the lava—the glowing, burning,
fiery though soon to be stone
lava of wakefulness.

I wish it were easy to just say
“sleep.”

I guess this piece kind of had an effect on me because whenever I can't sleep I say my rosary. And mine used to be baby blue, believe it or not. I wasn't really sure what the "lava of wakefulness" was supposed to be, but I like it all the same. I've done enough of lying in bed with my rosary wrapped aorund my hand when I was little and wishing I could sleep, even if I was too wound up or too afraid to do so. :smt043

the glowing, burning,
fire, though soon to be stone,
lava of wakefulness

...or something like that. because what you said makes no grammatical sense.
