I quite like them! My favorite I've read is Chinua Achebe's "Things Fall Apart" which is set in Nigeria. I'm also quite intrigued by colonization in literature, which novels set in Africa tend to focus on (for example, Joseph Conrad's "Heart of Darkness" and "Lord Jim" also focus on these themes).
I feel like there should be more, I do love "Things Fall Apart" but not all it's characters, yet the writing was fantastic. I haven't read enough to say fully what I think of them, but as an African, I hope more come up! I'm looking forward to reading more contemporary works!

Things Fall Apart is excellent, as is Arrow of God.
Other great authors include Ngugi Wa Thiong'o, who, in A Grain of Wheat, explores (among other ideas) the impact of Christianity and colonialism, and forms of leadership, and Chimimanda Ngozi Adichie, whose Half of a Yellow Sun looks at the Biafran Conflict with a focus on the shaping of narratives by history, conflict, and the survival of trauma.
