Foreign languages section

Hello everybody. I hope you all have a nice day.

So, I'm looking for a forum for young german writers in order to write stories in German. I found something but every time I thought I found something the community was too small or inactive. So I was thinking today, why hasn't YWS opened a section for stories for other languages. There is a very big community here and I really doubt that everybody is a native Anglophone.

So what do you think, would such a thing be possible? This is just an idea and not a sugestion because I won't be able to be online much soon because of the university. But just for the sake of the discussion, what do you think?

You're very right in thinking that not every YWSer is a native Anglophone - I know I'm not! I'm from Finland, but for a long time, I've liked to do my writing in English. Of course, I have some Finnish writings as well! The reason I found YWS was actually me looking for an English-speaking writing community.

There is definitely a possibility of posting stories and poems in other languages as well on YWS, even though it's not "advertised". The main thing to remember is just that you're probably not able to get as many reviews as with English works. Not only because not everyone speaks, say, German in the first place, but also because they might not be able to review literary works in a language they know a bit. I've studied French for several years, but I wouldn't feel comfortable giving a review/reading a literary work in that language.

I think that's why there probably isn't enough demand for this sort of thing at least yet, but as said, nothing stops you from posting works in other languages! Just keep in mind that then there will be fewer people capable of giving your writing the attention it deserves.
