Anything would work, Illustrator, Photoshop, corelDraw, etc.

Handmade logos are cool too.

GIMP and FireAlpaca are good free drawing tools, for those who can't afford things like Photoshop. I believe Paint.NET is also free, but I haven't used it myself.

I know this isn't a very good example, but here's a rough draft of a logo that I made for my projects. I actually like how it turned out and probably will use it after improving it.
