As you've known by now (if not then, it's a good time to learn about it), the community of YWS used to regularly publish Squills, an e-Zine made up of the best articles coming from you, the user. However the project had suffered years of inactivity now, and it's very possible that you won't remember it yourself.
Of course, though, all good things deserve some resurrection now and then. So, with Emerson leading the fray, Squills will soon be back and running! In fact, she has started hunting for contributors for the Squills' maiden issue!
Part of the project is a daily published newspaper also bearing the same title. It's the Squills Daily, which, obviously, runs on a daily basis and stands as the official YWS newsboard where you can see a general summary of YWS updates, a list of the newest members of YWS, literary spotlights and the best reviewers at the given time. It can be found under the In the News and is currently staffed by the E-i-C, Griffinkeeper, and me.
You, my dear user, can even post a news item any time at the thread as long as it strictly complies the YWS Rules and Regulation, is concise and informative and is still fresh. You could also contact any of the staff if you'd want a Shameless Plug, which in some way is a kind of an advertisement. You can advertise your story, poem, storybook, blog or business with it.
Submissions will be taken over the span of the day. On the next day, the thread will be locked and a new one will take its place. This feature runs all week long, featuring special coverage during events and certain occasions.
Now, not only are we hunting contributors who can simply post a YWS update or a link to the newest member out there, but we're also trying to find people who can DRAW. Or at least, know people who CAN. If you have a talent for drawing and planning out simple, funny and family friendly comics, then show it to any staff member and we'll see if it properly complies with the R & R. If you know someone who can draw, you can also ask them to let you publicize the comic at YWS as part of the paper. Remember that copyright laws apply, so be sure to ask for permission, okay?
