With some exceptions, I don't like to read school stories. Why? Because honestly, none of the usual character-types are like myself. I was abruptly thrust into public school near the end of my fourth-grade year. That was okay.

Then, in middle school, it all started coming down 'round my ears.

I'd never been exposed to so many people for so long. Add to that the confusion of becoming a teenager, and you get a recipe for terror. There was no time for me to worry about social status, fashion or any of the usual nonsense.

What I'm getting at is this: If somebody was willing to write a story where the main character was somewhat like myself, I'd be very grateful. Thank you for hearing me out.

I love reading school stories BECAUSE I cant relate. I was home schooled for my entire education and never spent a day in a classroom therefore it is like being immersed into a strange new world no different than reading sci-fi or fantasy. Thats just me

Who better to write such a story than yourself? ;)

I agree with lauren, There's a quote by Toni Morrison which says " “If there's a book ( or story in your case) that you want to read, but it hasn't been written yet, then you must write it.”

It's not always that easy, though. You have to distance yourself and evaluate and all that. I've wanted to write a story about a girl with anxiety issues so many times but it's still such a recent thing that I can't.
