Mok

He watched as the fort walls slowly climbed around him, maintaining his silent vigil. Work progressed rapidly during the day, but at night the human workers had to sleep. He didn't begrudge them this. Personally he longed for the oblivion of rest.
After seven rotations of the lunar pair, Mok perceived a glow from the North.
T'would appear the conflict hath begun in earnest
He decided to wait until it's conclusion before sending out a patrol.

Tamen moved quickly. The ground forces on the Traumeris side, having found no supplies to steal, was now redeployed. With a signal, the two gryphon forces converged on the bridge. Traumeris forces covered the bridge and were being levitated into the air by mages.

A company of demons made it over before Tamen's air mages began intervening. The demons would suddenly find themselves being thrown off course, sometimes into the lake, into a wall, or sometimes even higher, to the point where the landing was fatal, as gryphons used air magic to manipulate their trajectories. The Traumeris mages responded by sending more spirits, but while they were casting spirits they couldn't levitate troops.

Then Tamen's bombers joined the fight, dumping their remaining ordinance on the bridge. The bridge exploded in fire as heavy stones left gapping holes in the bridge. Portions of the bridge, weakened by fire, began to collapse into the lake. The bombers, now free of their cargo, joined the air battle.

The Vennerites had more numbers in the air battle, but that was their only advantage. The gryphons had altitude on their side, and were diving on harpies and gargoyles as they struggled for altitude. The night only made things harder for the Vennerites, who had trouble seeing the dark gryphons against the night sky, where the gryphons easily spotted the Vennerite shapes against the fires below.

As a result, neither Vennerite or Traumeris forces were in a position to prevent Tamen's Traumeris attack team from being dropped inside the castle. The Traumeris, already engaged with the Liike Defenders, now suddenly faced a surprise attack from behind. Elvish archers, led by Perrinni, and Liike Defenders began hitting the Traumeris from opposite directions. The Peacekeeper skirmishers, led by Tenebris, engaged the demons directly, before they could reach Perrinni's archers. A pitched battle ensued.

Tenebris Draco

Tenebris burst through the palaces roof, pursued by two harpies. He unsheathed his behemoth blade and turned to face his assailants. The pursuers momentarily froze, possibly unnerved by the sight of his weapon. What would usually be a two-handed weapon, Tenebris wielded with one, protecting his prize with the other. The first harpy charged, anger and ferocity masking its face into a thing of nightmares. Tenebris whipped the enemy with his tail, stunning it, and then delivering a blow that cut the harpy clean in half, blood spewing everywhere and entrails falling to the ground far below.

The second had become completely paralysed in shock, as the building the Draconian had burst from erupted in an explosion of impossibly dark lights. They must have discovered the divine chains; Light Elves must have phenominal weaving skills. What had amused him was that gaining something of utmost importance and having that so much of power, would be so easy to gain.

He braced himself to land, and landed with a heavy thud creating a circle of cracks around him. A high pitched screech alerted him to the remaining harpy. It had begun to nosedive towards the draconian, when the sound of an arrow being released entered his ears. An arrow then appeared in the harpies head and it dropped to the ground and lay still. Perrini emerged from the shadows.

"My...my, what do we have here?" Perrini asked.

"The book," Tenebris said bluntly. "I thank you for acting as a distraction, in order for me to accomplish my plan." With that he handed over what he had held.

Which book do you refer too? It can't be the one I was after, because I clearly state Urolox has it.

Might I just point out, Illuminist, that it is hardly fair to be able to quadruple the power of someone like Urolox.

Lauryr

Lauryr touched a finger to the moat of the castle, crossing the waters before allowing it to melt under the intensity of the fire. Ahead, he saw the flames rising up into the night's sky, illuminating the undersides of the dark shroud of clouds. Gryphons chased down the Vennerites' airborne troops with ease- it pained he Frost Giant to see such waste of life, but each death was for a cause greater than the individual.
He could see the arrow slits dotting the castle walls, each manned by one brave defender of the castle city. Lauryr knew full well that killing the innocent would not serve the Vennerites' purpose, so blocked the firing slits with a layer of ice, preventing the defenders from killing the advancing Vennerites until they could clear the blockage, or until the flames melted them.
The heat was unpleasant as it played across his skin, but Lauryr pushed onwards towards the walls. The Traumeris had a presence within the city which needed to be eradicated, and that meant gaining entry.
He reached the wall, touching a cool palm to the hot stone. He felt along the wall until he found a small crack. It appeared to have been caused before the fighting, and the elements had had a minor effect on its size already. With a sly smile, he helped the process along, forcing the water inside to freeze and expand, splitting the great stone blocks to form a fissure perhaps two metres tall. He took the waterskin of a deceased gargoyle who's body had fallen near the castle walls, and poured the contents into the fissure, repeating the process. It was clear he would be here a while, but the prize- unimpaired entry to the city- was a worthwhile one.
At the end of the day, when the sun is gone and the light is lost, the shadows will play.

Might I add that I never did specify what it would do, not exactly, nor the limitations the book would offer, and it certainly has those. Might I point out that rules are not godmodding, while your posts certainly were. I appreciate the fact DNX allows godmodding, if so it suits him, but I am not prepared to back down, you see.

Mok

The glow from Liike began to die down, just as the dawn sun crested the southern horizon. Mok blinked, his first for almost twelve hours, straining for any sign of enemy or allied forces retreating towards the pass. He turned to where the human volunteer company was emerging for firearms drill. They slowly formed into squads and began drilling. Reloading their half-arquebuses, forming squares, forming lines and rotating.

"Mok."

He looked up, into the burning eyes of Urolok, who was grinding his teeth.

"Death Overlord, what can this humble servant do to appease your divine will?"

Urolok's nostrils flared. "I have told you before, my title is 'Lord and Master', not this 'Death Overlord' nonsense. I have no power over death." He grinned eerily. "Well, except for in the conventional sense of course."

Mok, bowed his head respectfully. "Apologies my exalted Lord and Master. For we Imass, 'tis our leader that holds the sword over our necks. Thus, he becomes the Overlord for our deaths, long coming may they be."

Urolok began rubbing his temples. "'Lord and Master' shall suffice very well, Mok. Now, I need you to do something of the utmost importance. Leave the humans at Fort Chaesk, and journey north. I would put you to hunting."

Mok would have felt joy at that statement once. Long ago. Now his mind was merely considering the implications and logistics of a journey to Liike.

"What is thine will, Lord and Master? It shall be carried out, as is only right and proper."

Urolok grinned again, and this time it made even Mok feel uneasy.

"I would like you to help our troops still engaged in Liike. They are rather dear to me and I'd prefer if they weren't completely slaughtered. Now go."

Mok bowed his head as Urolok faded from view, then collapsed into dust and began floating with the northerly breeze.

Regis
Lord Regis Voehringer leaned against a rock at the summit of a hill no more than a half mile away from Liike, watching the chaos unfold.

"Bloodsbane continues with this madness?" He asked his 'assistant', Numo. The pale skinned giant gave a grunt and a nod. "He should have let the Peacekeepers and Vennerites bleed each other first and then go for his damned book." Numo grunted again. There were downsides to have a mute bodyguard, Regis had to admit, though he made up for his lack of conversation with his proficiency in killing.

"Have you found him yet?" Regis asked after he bored of watching the battle. Numo nodded. "Where?" The lord asked. Numo raised a meaty fist and pointed to mountains beyond Liike. Regis frowned slightly. "Well that confuses things slightly." Numo nodded yet again. Numo grunted and pointed to the sky.

Regis glanced up and saw a dark shape moving through the sky. By the sound of its wings and the general outline it was a gryphon. The creature swooped down, to get a better view of the unknown's on the ground, Voehringer assumed.

"No-one is to be aware of my presence." Regis said to Numo. The giant, over seven feet of muscle and anger, nodded with a smile. He crouched down and leapt into the air. He moved as fast as an arrow. He was a dark shape shooting through the sky and he collided with the gryphon with a crash.

The beast began freefalling, kicking and clawing at Numo, who held it in a bear hug. It let out a great cry as he sunk his fangs into its neck. Dirt and mud flew up in every direction when it came crashing to the ground. It no longer moved as Numo rose from the ground, blood dribbling from his mouth and covering his chin and chest.

"Good." Regis said. "Gather the others, we've got a hermit to find."
