We're doing pretty well so far! Team phoenix dominated top-reviewers chart and if we keep this up, we can definitely win! Thanks to all those reviewing Every little bit counts, it's a team effort! So even if you can only log on to make 1 review, that will add up and help wonders!
Also, Darknecrosis, to clear things up:
Basically, all reviews must first be at least 10 lines long. You can earn anywhere from 5-10 points for basic/good reviews.
You can earn up to 5 additional points per review if you write quality reviews rather than just basic ones.
1) Don't focus so much on catching grammar mistakes...unless you're a robot and you like that sort of stuff.
Catching grammar mistakes is great and all, but it does take a lot of time, can be tedious, and doesn't help the author so much. Plus, it doesn't look good if 3/4 of your review is the author's own quoted material with some added commas you've inserted. Instead, take some time to explain HOW to correct comma splices instead.
It's kind of like the old proverb: It's better to teach a man to fish, than to catch a fish. Something like that anyway.
2) Have fun with it guys! Say what you liked overall, or what impression the story/poem left, then say what you didn't like about it, then try to be a bit more detailed on some of the elements of the story/poem. It doesn't have to be instructional. Comments/feedback are helpful too!
So, talk about characters! Plot! Anything that comes to mind. Reviews aren't just a one-way street. They help you out as much as they help the other person, because when you try to teach another person, you're only reinforcing the material for yourself ^-^; Forget grade-school, yours truly defs learned all her grammar-rules here on YWS.
Anybody else have any reviewing tips to share? Let's all get fired up!
Congratulations everyone, you all did splendously Frankly, I'm proud of all of our reviews - I saw a lot of good quality ones out there. So! If anyone here needs a review for a work of your own, give me a hollar!
Congratulations Phoenix! You guys deserve a huge applause for your hard work! And yes, it was a pretty close score with my team (The Sirens) but anyway! We all gave in our best and I guess, well! It was all for the good. ^^
So, yeah! I know I'm not supposed to be butting in here, but I just wanted to congratulate you. Enjoy the rest of your days till the next review day! xD
