Lions and Roses

The Island Kingdom of Korvir is in chaos. King Markus the Builder has died without a legal heir. His only brother perished in a fire months before the King himself passed away, the only survivor of his bloodline being a bastard daughter still in her minority. Two opposing factions have arisen in the Kingdom. The Lions and the Roses. The Lions, lead by the guardian of the King's Bastard, Baron Vynell seek to place her on the throne they use the Royal Lion as their banner. The Roses are lead by the powerful Tarbet family with Duke Malcolm Tarbet laying his own claim the throne as the King's brother-in-law and distant cousin. Both the Baron and the Duke have withdrawn from the capital of Kordun to their respective fortresses and have begun to marshal their forces. While their men prepare to fight on the battlefield an equally dangerous battle is being fought in the political arena as both factions vie for the support of the Kingdom's lords.

You can take the role of any noble lord or lady. A Knight, baron or count. You can claim more than one If you want. I'll be taking Duke Tarbet. Baron Vynell and the King's daughter are needed.

SB Rules:
- Swearing is allowed. As long as it is believable. Eg. don't have someone who has just been stabbed saying "darn, this hurts!".
- Romance and all that is allowed, same as above it has to be believable/
- No Mary sues.
- No killing other people's characters without permission.
- Most characters should not be idealists. The vast majority should be morally grey opportunists as befits the pseudo-middle ages.

Appearance: Medium height, well muscled. Bald and extremely ugly. Many scars of varying severity.
History: Became King Markus' Sworn Sword at the age of 21 by competing in the melee at the Royal Tourney, killing the King's nephew to win. Despite this, the King had the utmost trust in Sir Jace, especially after he saved him from an assassination attempt. Now, however, Baron Vynell is suspicious and the Tarbets apathetic, with Sir Jace reluctant to give up his place of power.
Personality: Loyal to those who earn it, but sarcastic otherwise. Not overtly cruel, but does enjoy killing if it's warranted. Ambitious but not impulsive.
Up for love: No, but he is looking to marry into a powerful house.
Other: Incredible with a two-handed warhammer which he calls, "Lola", after his childhood pet.
