Sixteen Years Gone By

Sixteen years gone by
Pretending not to care
If you get a card or a flower
When really deep inside
Your fingers are crossed
As you wait for that special surprise

Sixteen years gone by
Valentines is over and gone
Not a single secret admirer
Came to sweep you off your feet
And you weep inside gathering yourself
In hopes for just maybe next year

Sixteen years gone by
Of Valentines spent with dad
Drowning yourself
In a box of chocolates
And candy hearts
Passed out at school

A feeling I know too well...
It reads well. Seems like there should be more punctuation. But poetry is such a general idea, so take it or leave it.
Plan B is always "Die Trying."

I like it actually. Wasn't sure if I would, but I do. Can't think of anything to improve it. Nice.
Oh the trees!
Take me back to London please!!!

this was very cute and touching. i loved the feeling, because it certainly conveys what each and every teenage girl feels at the bitter disappointment. very cold and sort of....just bitter, i suppose. it really caught the feeling & now i have every urge within me to consume chocolate.
Carpe Diem.
