Libby walked out of the room with a gloomy look on her face. Several minutes later she came back with Daniella who had a big evil grin plastered onto her face. I think that’s her normal smile. I walked over to her.
“Grus trefs iyer kaf haruv?” I asked her. She gave me a funny looked. All I did was ask her if she wanted to play. I grabbed her arm and pulled her down onto the rug in the middle of the room. I got down on my hands and knees. “Grrrr.” I growled. She finally understood.
“Let’s play!” I nodded. “I’ll be the mommy lion, you be the baby lion!” I growled in agreement.

Hey sorry to just come in. HGL asked me to fill in because she will be out of town the next few days

Libby

The children start to growling on the floor. They are so cute. I start to laugh. When I come back into the room I plop down on the couch next to Seth and we watch them growl on the floor together. Daniella get up on her knees and waves her arms in the air. She lets out a loud growl and then falls on the floor asleep. Seth and I start to laugh. Livinia eyes start to close and she begins to sway back and forth. I run over a catch her as she falls asleep. Seth grabs Daniella and we carry them to their room. “Come on Mildred you look tired to .” I say.

“ I am not tired.” She says rubbing her eyes. I raise an eyebrow at her and smile. “Okay maybe I am.” She runs in front of Seth in I down the long hallway to her room. By the time we walk down she is already in the bed asleep

“ Guess she really was tired.” Seth chuckled.

“ Guess so.” I say. I lay Livinia down in her bed and tuck her in. When Seth tucks Daniella in and walks out I slowly close the door behind me. Seth and I tip toe down the long hallway to our rooms. “Night.” I say to him.

“Night.” He says and we go into our rooms.

I go into the closet and change into my nightgown. When I go to close the door, I hear singing. Beautiful singing. Just like my father's voice. The sound is so soothing. I decide not to close my door and just leave it cracked. I lay in my bed and listen to Seth sing. Is is soft and I drift of slowly.

Yes, this is long. I know.

Seth

I was on the edge of sleep. You know, that place where you're still aware of everything that's going on, but you're not sure if it's part of a dream or if it's really happening. It felt like I was standing on a ledge, swaying back and forth as if I were going to fall at any moment. So it was going to be one of those nights.

I watched a young couple walk out of the building I was standing on and my heart lurched inside my chest. I knew these people even though it had been so long since I'd seen them. I knew the way the woman's icy blue eyes could hold your stare for what seemed like forever, and I knew the way the man's voice would sound, deep and strong. I knew everything there was to know about them--how much they loved each other, how much they loved me. I could tell who they were from a mile away. My parents.

I felt myself lean farther out, as if to get a better view of them. I knew what was going to happen, most of my dreams were like this. Every night it was a different view, though I was always on the edge of something, falling over and over again in an endless circle. It never stopped. Sometimes I would be on top of the building across the road, sometimes I was standing on the edge of the sidewalk in front of them. Then, the ground would open up and I'd fall into the endless black hole that I'd always related to my life.

Tonight, I watched silently as a tall man in a slim gray suit walked out from the alleyway. The pale man pulled out a gun and approached my parents, saying something to them. That was the thing I hated more than falling endlessly. I could never hear what they were saying. But I didn't need to, I knew what was going to happen. I leaned forward, ready to fall and be over with it all. I wasn't ready to see them get killed again.

All of a sudden, I lost my footing and felt myself falling, but this time it was different. My eyes flashed open and I realized I was shirtless and sweating like crazy. That wasn't what I was worried about. Libby was screaming, I could hear her.

I jumped up and hurried out the door, not even hesitating outside her room. I opened the door and went in, walking straight to the side of her bed. It looked like she was still sleeping, but I could see the sweat between her furrowed brows. A nightmare.

"Libby," I whispered, shaking her shoulders. She turned her head away from me and groaned, but didn't wake up. "Libby, it's just a dream." This time my voice was louder and when she turned her head back to me, her eyes were open wide as if shocked. I smiled down at her. "Are you ok?"

Something is shaking me hard. “Libby.” I hear, but I can not wake up. “It is just a dream.” I can tell the voice belongs to Seth. My eyes dart open to see him stand over me. For a moment I am shocked and afraid, but I come to my scenes. “Are you okay?” He asks. I sit up. My body is shaking and the room is so cold. I shake my head. I am not okay. Not okay at all. “What happened?” I sit up ans Seth sits on the edge of my bed.

I begin to speak, when the tears burst out of my eyes. “Being strong is to hard. I go every single day acting like everything is okay. I do not understand. Everything I do feels like an act. My dreams are the only thing that make since to me. They are real. Every time I fall asleep, I dream someone dies.” I shake my head. “Every night my nightmares come back. More horrible each night.”

“I have them too.” he says. “You do not have to act like everything is okay.” He says

“Those little girls need someone to be strong for them and I would never be able to live with myself if I could have done that for them, but I choose not to.” I say. “Do you think this will ever end. The suffering?” I ask him. I wipe the tears on my night gown.

“We could always find the...” He trails. “Key.” He whispers.

I woke in the middle of the night to the sound of horrible screeching. I jumped out of bed and ran down the hall towards Daniella’s room. Daniella sat on the edge of her bed, her knee’s pulled up to her chest. Her evil grin had been replaced with a frown. I tottered over and pulled myself, with much grunting and groaning up onto the bed. I stared up into her eyes. They were overflowing with tears. I grabbed her hand and just sat with her, crying and crying my heart out with Daniella.

Dew heard us and came into the room to cry with us, just sitting on the edge of the bed. Libby and Seth walked slowly into the room.

“What’s the matter?” Libby asked, crouching down to be at eye level with us.

“Why do you think?” Dew whispered hoarsely. Libby moved forward and wrapped Dew in an enormous bear hug.

“It’ll be okay, Dew. Don’t worry you guys. We’ll make it.” Libby whispered to us all, with tears in her eyes.

Before I could even reply to Seth about the key I hear a loud scream. I look at Seth and we both dart down the hallway running as fast as we can. We run into Daniella's room to see Livinia, Mildred and Daniella sitting on the bed. Daniella is sobbing on the bed. She is so pale. I turn and wipe the tears from my face. After I do I run to give Daniella a big hug. “What happened?” I asked her.

“What do you think?” Mildred said.

“Bad dream again?” I ask Daniella. She nods her head. “ I lay her head on my chest. “You, Seth and I all need to stop having those.” I smile at her. “Do you want some water?” I ask her.

“Will it stop the bad dreams?” She asks.

“If it would I would drink it.” I say to her. “ I wish it would.” I say. I wipe the strands of hair away from her face. They are drenched with tears. This sadness is horrible.

The Flints gather into one bed and fall asleep into one bed. We tiptoe out the door and walk into my room. “Okay. We need to find it.”

When are the Protectors coming in?

Seth

"I agree," I said, nodding. "But I think we need more information about this key. We can't just go out looking for something when we don't even know what it looks like or where it is." Libby was right, we did need to find the key, but we couldn't just run out into the world looking for it when all we had to go on were some rumors and some crazy people's words.

I knew there were people looking for us. I knew there was a key that could open another dimension and if certain people got their hands on it, we'd be screwed. I knew there were people out there who were helping us, but I also knew there were just as many people after us. The thing that puzzled me the most was this: how did you use the key?

Staring intently at the small room that I now called home, I just laughed. My evil laugh echoed and bounced off the walls a million times. After all my hard work and endless toil after that key, I still found myself in the same dusty, flea-ridden room. With absolutely no furniture, it was not homey at all. All I could do was laugh.
I took a step farther into the room and lay down on the bleeding rug, also known as my bed, still laughing. I cringed as I heard the tiny mice feet scurrying through the walls.
“I deserve better than this!” I growled in my deep scratchy voice. “I deserve better!” I again erupted into my laughter, which to anyone else would sound like nails on a chalkboard, but to me was the melodious sound of an orchestra. Puffing and wheezing, I drifted off to sleep, vowing to find that key.
