Writer Bunnies

4 posts in this topic.

  1. Writer Bunnies (more commonly but incorrectly known as Plot Bunnies) are pretty much everything that can go wrong with a given story. They are much like zombies, except they're not dead; they infest aggressively, at the slightest provocation or seeing a single chink in an Author's defenses. Occasionally known to plot with Two-Faced or Innocent Muses (where the latter has no clue what they're getting into).

Bunnies can be divided into Idea Bunnies and Plot Bunnies, with Plot Bunnies divided into a wider variety of Bunnies relating to the developmental side of a story.

Idea (can't resist nomming every potential story they encounter):
    -Art: Dealing with images

    Plot
-Romance: Dealing with relationships gone wrong
Cuteness: Cuddling that the characters would NEVER indulge in otherwise

-Sadism: Torture and death that are NOT useful to the plot

-Drama: Cliche, emo, or unnecessary gestures/dialogue, especially when out of character

-Action: Action scenes/sequences that are either too elaborate or oversimplified

-Idiot: DUH moments, silly mistakes, and cases arising from Genre Blindness that are not in character

-Implausible: Things that would NEVER work either in-story or in reality (Action bunnies fall under this. A LOT.)

Feel free to add your own descriptions of Bunnies you've encountered that aren't listed! :D
  2. Association Bunnies: make connections between events or past knowledge, and decide that they would make an interesting plot. Usually the ones to chew any sort of lock on the Plot Bunny Gate, allowing them to escape and create yet another plot.
  3. Character Bunnies. Although these aren't quite true Bunnies, but Charries. They are the ones that come to you to write their story and attempt to draw you from others in the process.
  4. Subtrope of Character Bunnies: Pirate Bunnies (see Gryph's post on the Wall, 3/23/11).
