Main Background Character

  1. When a character, usually secondary but sometimes even more bit-part than that, manages to develop enough to take over the entire story and become the protagonist.

    A common characteristic of this trope is that the character emerges fully formed in your head. You put them down on paper and they never change from that initial brilliance.
