Why do write?

I write because I am frequently frustrated by the real world and need to escape to a world of my own. That is why I write.

I write for many reasons, but the simplest one is that it brings me pleasure

-
I write because I have too many stories in my head and my charectors want out. That and I just love it.
-
I write because I can create anything I want with writing. The possibilities are endless and I love having an endless stream of ideas.
-
I write because I've been telling myself fanfiction stories since I was five. The only thing standing between me and insomnia.
-
I don't know. I've just been writing since I was seven. I guess I'm so used to it I just can't stop.
That, and I have millions and millions of ideas for books I'd like to read. Since no one else has written them, I guess I have to.
It also has something to do with my belief that "Every gift is given for a reason." I just want to use any gifts I have to glorify GOD, and I believe writing is one of them. -
I write because of characters and because the worlds those characters live in. I just have to tell people about them.
-
I write becuase thats what my late great grandmother wanted me to.
-
Well, lets just say that if I didn't my characters would've burst my head open by now... Using their high-tech weapons. :3

I love basically every aspect of it. I love how a person as boring as myself can create an ideal world, just with words. I love creating the characters, and getting that half-awesome, half-scary feeling that they're real.
-
I write because my life is full of stress and it's so painful, so writing is my way of expressing and relieving the pain.
-
Same as PurpleandBlue, and I can't remember ever NOT wanting to write. I've had stories buzzing around in my head since first grade, maybe kindegarten.

Why do you write?
I write for many reasons. 1) I write because I believe its one of the gifts God gave me. 2) The story I want to read and watch on screen has not been written yet. So I must write it since no one else could write something like this. 3) My characters would have driven me nuts if I did not let them out. [okay well they already do but that's not the point]Point is I would be even more insane than I already am. 4) A story picked me so I must write it. 5) I love/hate it. I love to write its just some of the things I must write for the story are just.....yeah.
There are many others but those are the top 5.

I write partly because I have good ideas, partly because I like to write, and partly because I want to be famous and rich (don't we all?)

Writing is like breathing. It's as natural as the clouds in the sky, or the fact that grass is green. It's as natural as laughing, or smiling, or frowning. It's like running through fields and fields and fields and never running short of breath, and never growing lax.
It's telling stories, a silent war, or an attempt to counter ignorance. It means something to me, and that's pretty much all the reason I need.
