I have been reading allot about the battle between Harry potter and Twilight as the best series ever. But, many are overlooking all of the other great series that have been written and enjoyed by countless number of people. In your opinion, what is the best fiction series of all time?
It is ok to put HP or Twilight if that is what you truly think
Mine would Have to be Redwall or HP
The best fiction series ever

Another one that is currently being overlooked: Inheritance, aka Eragon, Eldest and Brisingr.

For exceptional reasons, Rosey.
It is possibly the most shameful piece of... no, it's your opinion.
The best ever? I believe The Lord of the Rings (sheer beauty), but also the Discword Novels. Love 'em. -
Ay the discworld novel are fantastic
-
The Twilight saga is definitely the best series ever invented

Not to be a smart alec or anything Midnight Rose, but have you actually read every series ever written?
I haven't read twilight yet but I don't think I can take it seriously until I read a positive review written by either a guy of any age or a girl over 18. Sorry but that prejudice is my prerogative.
I've only read The Colour of Magic out of the Discworld novels, but they really are fantastic, and it's certainly a prolific series.
I grew up with Harry Potter so I'm probably a little biased but to me it seems certain to be one of the few true classics of our time.
Eragon is the misbegotten son of star wars and lord of the rings, with a few dashes of dragonriders of pern for seasoning. It's an enjoyable read if you're new to the fantasy genre, but otherwise incredibly painful to work your way through.
Robin Hobb's elongated triple trilogy would get a vote from me, as would Raymond Feist's work. I'd consider throwing Terry Brooks's work into the ring, but despite the behemoth it's grown into, it still began with the highly derivative Sword of Shannara (it's like Eragon, but with actual style). -
The Inheritance Series is alright for me. It seems that Eragon was a fine story and I was impressed how Christopher Paolini made up his own language and all, but as soon as I got to Eldest, I was stuck working hard just to get through the many chapters of training. That would have to be one of the dullest things I have read in a book. The Inheritance Series is alright, but isn't the best for me.
Some of the series that I did really enjoy was the Inkworld series. The first one, Inkheart, was incredibly dull at times but ended spectacularly. That series got on better as it went on. Inkdeath actually ended the series unlike many endings that aren't really satisfying. I also really enjoyed the Mortal Instruments Series. City of Bones was spectacular and City of Ashes topped that. The writing is not as well written as some series I have read, but I do enjoy the plot exceptionally. I also recommend the Abrhorsen Series by Garth Nix a lot. That series was spectacular. I could read those stories over and over again. There was also the Airborn Series by Kenneth Oppel that really widened my eyes. That series was spectacular. It had an exceptional twist in the settings and characters. It was unlike anything I have read.
I personally haven't read Harry Potter all the way through. For some odd reason it just doesn't suit my fancy. Twilight Series was doomed from the start. That was a struggle to read through. The only reason I finished it was because my sister was indeed captivated. But know she hates it too. If you want real vampires read the Vampire Chronicles by Ann Rice. Ann Rice is an astonishing author. She also wrote the Mayfair witches.
Right now I am reading A Great and Terrible Beauty, which I thought was a historical fiction, but no, it has transformed into a fairly big Fantasy. I am actually looking forward to reading the sequel Rebel Angels.
Well, it is apparent that I have ranted enough.

I think there are definitely a lot of amazing fantasy writers, I don't particularly like Twilight, but some of the ideas are extremely creative.
My favourite series is DEFINATELY "The Sword of Truth" series written by Terry Goodkind. Its so amazing! It just blew my mind, I read it twice and it still amazes me. He created this whole world, where Harry Potter and Twilight are still connected with reality, Terry Goodkind created everything from new creatures to new expressions. The story has so many twists and things happening its hard not to become hooked. It will always stay my favourite and I still think about it a lot (Even though I read it twice.)
My other favourite series is of course "Lord of the Rings." Absolutely BRILLIANT. The grammar, the mental images, the story- that man's imagination is just incredible! Even the fact that he made up a whole language and wrote a whole number of songs for the book just confirms it even more. -

I have to agree with most of these reviews. I, personally, really disliked the Twilight Series. I have no idea why, but I think it's because Stephenie Meyer has no talent. Please don't skewer me with pitch-forks, but that's just my opinion.
Have any of you ever read Artemis Fowl series, by Eoin Colfer? Truly, I utterly loved that series. Though that was a while back now. The Alex Rider series by Anthony Horowitz as well, yes I was into teens bashing up the baddies then.
And then to Christopher Paolini's Books. When I was like 12 I fell in love with it and couldn't stop reading it, but now . . . I think my taste must have slightly changed as I can't stomach it very well now.
I have never had the chance to read the Discworld Series, is it really all that good? -
Lost Years of Merlin is my favorite fantasy series. But if His Dark Materials counts as fantasy, I'm going with that.

I used to love the Inheritance books but when i read Brisingr i realised there are much better books out there.
I loved the twilight saga and thought that they were brilliantly written. They are in my top fantasy books ever written!
I also love the Beldariad and Mallorean series by David Eddings. I like that it focuses on a large group of main characters not only a few and the history of the book is really good. -
Cinds Chima's Heir series The first two are good the last was a bit of a disappointment.
Of course the best series ever is The Bartimaius Trilogy by Jonathan Stroud. It's a smart fantasy that uses wit in amazing ways. The best part are Bartimaiu's chapters where he uses footnotes to explain things usually they are super funny.
It's the best I've ever read. -
My favorite series is by Jessica Day Goerge the first book is Dragon Slippers second Dragon Flight third Dragon spear and the fourth is coming out soon truthfully i have read it 12 times and everytime theres something i missed before and it just keeps getting better and im dyin to read the third book but i dont have it
