  1. Name: Critiq. Or Jonathan. Invent some insane nickname if you have to.

Favorite Genre of Writing: Other. I can't stand 'genre' writing as they call it. I usually do satire, dark humor, or very affront stuff. More tragedy than comedy.

Weaknesses: Description, probably. I despise that stuff. Which is a problem, since it pretty much contains all of fiction. I also fight to stick with a story, with what essentially amounts to writing ADHD. I also struggle with liking what I write. It always sounds forced and so forth.

Strengths: I suppose I think outside the box. I'm good with the stuff outside of the plot, like pinning down a theme and giving my writing a lil' bit of meaning. And I can be funny sometimes? Maybe?

Author: Maybe Kurt Vonnegut, because that guy is insane. Or Jonathan Swift. I'm already halfway to that one.

What do I hope to improve: Writing more, essentially. Maybe sticking with one topic? I'd also like to relax a bit in my writing, because I'm told its better than I often think it is. General tips are always nice, but the road to good writing is usually through self discovery. Or so I am told.
  2. Name: PenNPaper

Favourite genre in writing: Fantasy and Action

Weakness: Describing the scene, feelings, actions. Punctuation

Strengths: Coming up with a good plot

Author inspired to be like: Christopher Paolini

Goals: To improve on my weaknesses as well as my strengths, basically everything.
  3. Name: Freyja. Pen name is Vanadis, but it means the same thing. You can call me by my real name; I prefer it.

Favourite genre of writing: I love everything, and I try my hand at everything. Right now, I'm reading His Dark Materials again, right after I've re-read Runemarks and Harry Potter. At the moment, I'm caught up in fantasy.

Weaknesses in writing: I tend to get off topic a little bit and have to delete half a paragraph or more because it just doesn't make any sense! What I really hate is when I like my ramblings, because then I have to find somewhere else to put them. Or...is that what I really like? Hm. Epiphany.

Strengths in writing: Spelling, grammar, punctuation, syntax in general, arg, arg, ARG! That's why I beta-read; I can catch EVERYTHING. Also, if a bitter and heartrending story is on my mind, I can make people go through a box of Kleenex. Seriously. I'm good at that.

Author you aspire to be like and why: I want to be like myself! I don't want to have a book published and have a review that compares me to, say, Jodi Piccoult (although that would be quite a book!) Those ones that say, "Store on the shelf next to Pullman and Tolkien and whoever-else-writes-epic-fantasy..." Sure. I'll take that. I just want to be me, though. I have an idea! Compliment me! Tell me to store my book next to My Sister's Keeper!

What are you hoping to improve on in this group? What do you aim to achieve?: I want to stop burning my manuscripts and deleting my rough drafts. Do you know how annoying it is to do that? I just did it last night. I get to a point where I feel like it's hopeless (that's the chemical imbalance talking) and I just throw it in the recycle bin and delete files. I've done that with three or four okay novels; what I need now is advice from others so that I don't only have to go on my own advice, which is what makes me give up. I want to finish something for once!
  4. Name:wolfdaemon, but you can call me sea :)
    Favourite genre of writing:fantasy fiction
Weaknesses in writing:ummm, tying things up.
Strengths in writing: i am teh master at description! not really, but im ok. . .
Author you inspire to be like and why:thier are three, terry goodkind (legend of the seeker) tamora pierce (many many books, the lioness, protector of the small ect; ) and brent weeks (way of shadows) they.are.genius! all i have to say lol
What are you hoping to improve on in this group? What do you aim to achieve? to actually stick with one novel.
  5. Hello all, My name is Sarah I love to write young adult fiction,I have trouble making myself write,if I don't have inspiration I won't write. I consider myself to be a good poet and I can write a pretty interesting short story too. I inspire to be like Stephenie Meyer because she took an old myth like vampires and put her own spin on it. I hope to improve on my clarity in my writing and how to have a good beginning and ending to a story. I hope to achieve to care first what I think about my writing and be okay if others don't always feel the same.
  6. Hello Everyone!

    Name:Lydia :D

Favourite genre of writing: Romantic or Fantasy Fiction

Weaknesses in writing: Making plot hooks and cliffhangers

Strengths in writing: I am pretty good at description and I can ususally come up with a good plot

Author you inspire to be like and why: Well I inspire to be an author and I don't really find inspiration in one particular author. I think that JK Rowling inspired me to write in the first place but since then I have found a lot of inspiration in what I read.

What are you hoping to improve on in this group? What do you aim to achieve? I am hoping to improve at showing vs telling and plot hooks/markers. I am aiming to finish the novel I am working on so that it is a gripping story. I am sure this group will help me achieve that.

This group looks really great! I cannot wait to start exploring.
  7. Name: Maha
Favourite genre of writing: Horror, supernatural, science-fiction
Weaknesses in writing: I tend to blabble al ot when I speak to people, and this is also seen in my writing in the form of run-on sentences and all that. less descriptive, and unworthy information.
Strengths in writing: imaginative, and character development
Author you inspire to be like and why: a lot of writers....
What are you hoping to improve on in this group? What do you aim to achieve? help people improve in writings and imagining;) i aim to improve my self as well.:)
  8. Name: bluewaterlily, waterlily, blue, lily, what eves ( as long as it has lily or blue in it  )
Favorite genre to write: Fantasy and romance
Weaknesses in writing: Setting, being "concise", and my characters could use a good bit of work.
Strengths in writing: Descriptions and dialogue
Author(s) you inspire to be like and why: I want to write like Christopher Paolini because his stories have a good plot, strong and interesting characters, a realistic(as if you were there)setting. I also want to write like Noriko Ogiwara the author of Dragon Sword and Wind Child. Dragon Sword and Wind Child is a book about Japanese mythology, I can't explain why I love it so much, I just do. Here's a link to a website for her Tales of Magatama trilogy: http://dswc.magatsu.net/
What are you hoping to improve in this group? What do you aim to achieve? : I hope to improve creating characters and settings. I could also use a little improvement for creating plots and starting the beginning of a story. I aim to achieve all the things I want to improve.
