  1. OK, I've heard a lot of cool, weird, and old words lately, so I got an idea;

    Why not have everyone post them here?

    Here's what you do;

    You post a word, with it's definition, and then rate the word(s) above you! I'll start;

    Nubivagant- adj. Moving throughout or among clouds
    boreism- adj. The behavior of a boring person
    pamphagous- adj. Eating or consuming everything
    magistricide- the killing of a teacher or master

    Edit; every year, words (awesome words that deserve to be known), are dropped from the dictionary to make room for new words. Well! Here is a link to a website that will help save those words;

    http://www.savethewords.org/

    You can adopt words! Say them in conversations, around the house, or just plain randomly! ;) Help us save the words! (P.S.; it is where I found the words above :P )
  2. Woah. Where did you find those words?

    8/10. I like the definitions; but the names sound odd.

    Here is one:

    bête noire : That particular dreaded or detested or feared person (literally, "black beast") to be at all costs avoided, to whom one is perversely averse. An old rival? An aggravating pest? An ex-husband? Whichever, your bugbear and pet hate as a human or subhuman being.
  3. 10/10... haha, I have a lot of bete noire! ;)

    psalloid; adj. Resembling a harp or stringed instrument

    example;

    Some say the devil introduced rock music because he was tired of hearing the angels play psalloid instruments all day.

    Haha I like that example :lol:
  4. 10/10 I may use that word in a book I'm planning on writing... :)

    Meretricious – Alluring by a show of flashy or vulgar attractions; tawdry; based on pretense, deception, or insincerity

    Offal – The parts of a butchered animal that are considered inedible by human beings; carrion

    Droogish - Relating to the nature or attitudes of a member of a street gang
  5. sui defenestration : to throw yourself out of a window
  6. Haha! 10/ 10 for both of you! Drooish and sui defenestration are hi-lar-i-ous!

    Erm; a pause or space- filler

    8)
  7. Note: Droogish comes from the book A Clockwork Orange. The other has a made up futuristic slang, and "droog" is used to refer to your "friends" or fellow gang members.
  8. For Peanuts: 9/10
    Erm... :D

    Woofits: A unwell feeling; especially a headache; a moody depression.
  9. 10/10 I have to say... There's just something about that word that makes me laugh.

    Susurrus – A whispering or rustling sound; a murmur

    Quiddity – The essence, nature, or distinctive peculiarity of a thing; a hairsplitting distinction; a trifling point; a quibble.
  10. Susurrus: 7/10, it's not that cool, but it's not bad.
    Quiddity: 9.99/10, it sounds awesome, and I will be using it.

    In the middle of school, I was on reference.com, wanting to translate something. I saw the word of the day and found this one. I started using it, and my friends stared at me like I was crazy. :lol:
    Peccadillo -- A slight offense; a petty fault
  11. 9/10 Awesome word! It will be put onto my list. :)

    Okay, so before I begin, here is a site with 20 weird english words. Some of these are quite hilarious and some are just extremely... weird looking. You'll know what I mean. :) http://listverse.com/miscellaneous/20-weird-english-words/

    Okay, so my word is.... *drum roll*

    Fustilugs - A grossly fat or slovenly woman.

    This is one of the weirdest words I've seen....
  12. 8/10 ... I'm not one for using that word, but it's hilarious to look at!

    I went to that site you put up. Here is my favorite word, just because of size and pronunciation;

    floccinaucinihilipilification;
    Estimation that something is valueless. Proper pronunciation based on Latin roots: flockə-nowsə-nəkələ-pələ-fək-ation.

    I can't pronounce it, even with the guide!
  13. The actual roots of floccinaucinihilipilification:

    Floccus: ball of wool, worthless

    nihil: nothing

    facio, facere: to do/make

    :wink:
  14. 8/10 They'll all interesting words.

    Secability: The ability to be cut.
  15. 7/10 I do not have secability.

    Eleemosynary – Of or for charity; charitable; as, “an eleemosynary institution”; given in charity; having the nature of alms; supported or dependent on charity

As if you were on fire from within. The moon lives in the lining of your skin.
— Pablo Neruda
