Apollo

  1. I call the sun god Apollo. I think it's the most commonly used, but I guess that's only in Greek mythology.
  2. Well, I guess Apollo, but when I think the sun and mythology, I think of Ra from Egyptian Mythology? XD

Then you mention music, poetry, etc. So I'm thinkin' it's Apollo.
  3. Yeah, I meant from Greek mythology.

Apollo has a lot of different names in Greek mytholgy.
  4. I called the god of sun, music, poetry, and all that, Apollo.
  5. Apollo for me as well
  6. Helios for me - I read the mythology surrounding him as the God of the Sun before I ever even heard of Apollo as the Sun-God; so to me, Helios is the sun, and Apollo, if anything, is just the darting rays of sunlight.
  7. Well, Apollo's full Greek name would be Phoebus Apollo, which basically means "Shiny Apollo." :D

Actually, I believe that Helios is used for the Greeks--at least Homer used Helios. (the cattle of the sun god)
  9. Apollo is considered Greek and Roman, so it is the most commonly used overall.
  10. Strangely, I'm fascinated with Norse gods. As much so as Greek ones. Norse gods are just so weird and cool...

The Incan sun God is Inti.
Amaterasu is the Japanese sun goddess.
Freyr is the awesome Norse sun god.
Huitzilopochtli (Uitzilopochtli) is the Aztec sun god.
    Lugh the Celtic Sun God
    Re (Ra) the Egyptian one.

There's probably tons more. I love Norse gods...

Owning our story can be hard but not nearly as difficult as spending our lives running from it. Embracing our vulnerabilities is risky but not nearly as dangerous as giving up on love and belonging and joy—the experiences that make us the most vulnerable. Only when we are brave enough to explore the darkness will we discover the infinite power of our light.
